Upgrade ram, need advice

Hi all, I want ask for your advice, I want upgrade Ram my lappy, acer travelmate 4104, now use 512 mb ram DDR2 533, can my lappy use DDR2 667 (2x 512MB),(1GB) or (2x 1GB), or a stupid question can 512 MB DDR2 533 can be paired with 512MB (1GB) DDR2 667 ?  thanks in advance

Well, Need more info on it. Like wat motherboard u using. But technically, if ur motherboard supports DDR2 667 then it will run @ 667. If not, it only runs @ 533. U can actually pair ur 512ddr2 533 with a 512ddr 667 (but this 1 will run @ 533 instead).But i heard mixxing rams is not so good~...jz my opinion~

If you put two RAM's with different speeds they will run at the slower one. Example: 1GB 533MHz with 1GB 667MHz but it will only run at 533MHz and not 667MHz.

Shouldn't be any stability issues if running at lower speed provided the RAM is fully compatible with the mobo. The only issue is compatibility with the mobo itself. Try to check which brand of RAM that is compatible with your mobo before upgrading otherwise incompatible RAM will cause stability issues, crashes and BSOD.

sry borrow thread for qtion: my mobo can only support PC3200 DDR but the price is more ex than PC5300 DDR2, so my mobo can run with PC5300 DDR2 at lower speed?
