Reviving this thread. I am going back into hermit crab keeping again. If anyone have seen any hermit crab on sale in any place of Malaysia, do report in here so I can renew all the info at first page.

I am currently seeking for Strawberry crab as well as Ecuadorian ones.

Hi, does anyone know how to make hermit crab transfer to another shell? I have a hermit crab it's time to transfer the shell, I already put in a new shell but it still doesn't transfer.

Any hermit crab keepers around? Want to ask some questions:

I usually leave them in my room, no open window, but open door to let air in a bit, at night time I on about 1-2 hour of aircond then turn off and switch to fan, would that be a big no no for the crabs? Cause I heard my friend said it before but not sure of it.

Actually is there anything that we need to concern for taking care hermit crab? Heard that it is very easy. Is it true?

hermit needs humidity. as in 70% water, 30% air.

sometimes too cold they will die.

wanna ask, is there any normal water hermit crab? so can raise with prawn, lobster and crab

Awwww man one of my crab died It froze while half of it's body is out and now it won't respond to me when I touch him, usually he would go back inside his shell, but now it doesn't move at all, I'm being hopeful but is it sick?

Well...almost all hermits sold in the market now are all collected, so I guess not really an issue since the challenge to raise hermit crab zoea is way too challenging & costful for the time being(from salt water environment to brackish land)

I catched 26 hermit crabs at the beach and pity them, now all it left is only 12 of them, sigh. I'm releasing them next month

Anyway, found this Beauty at Nulifar and Aquatic Pet centre at Scott Garden. :')

My life is completed. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Nice crab there.. care to share where is the Nulifar located?

any type of sand u guys using?
tried to look for fine sand and seem not available aroud kl. could suggest some place to get it?
now i m using eco earth bedding with half tank sand of about 1-2 mm size

You can mix both medium and small hermit, as long as you put in the appropriate sized shells for them to change. That way, they won't fight. Hermit crabs are very friendly and close knit to each other. As long as there is a lot of shells for them to change, they will live in peace
