Hi Guys,

Anybody know where I can find OCZ Reaper Memory here in Penang?

PCDepot only has their NVidia SLI variant. I searched the forums, but could not find any leads.

Any recommendations?

Also, I've got a stable stress test on OCCT for nearly 7hours (w/screenshot and graphs) on my overclock E6420 2.13 to 3.10GHz and I reside in Penang - prop me up another seat in the club! =)

Still working on my budget rig, but need to find the RAM first! =)

Thanks all.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Question: Who is karom? A user on this forum? Store?
How should I get in touch with him?

Whats up with the Ballistic Tracer sticks? Should I be considering these. Both received decent reviews when OC'ing. I don't mind the LED lights on the tracer, but I'm not all that concerned with 'bling' for now.

R u gonna OC high??

For me, the ballistic 8500 ady can do 1066 ady..
*
As high as the board will let me go. It's only rated for 800 though - so I'll start with a 800 OC'ed to 1066 on a PC-6400 DIMM.

I tried my Corsair ValuSelect DDR 667 - wouldn't OC at all without hanging. Obviously not meant for that, but even slightly upping the speed would cause the system to crash.

u ask ktek,my kingston 533mhz value ram oc to 1260mhz without any ram cooler or heat spreader laugh.gif
try to use as low vdimm as possible and as ktek said,2T is a must for ur system.loosen timing to CL5 first then increase the frequency and see how high can CL5 go smile.gif
*
huh?! i think i need you guys to come over and teach me how to do that....seriously.

from 533 to 1260 on value ram?!

ok im going to try it now...dont worry i won't blame you if i cant post on LYN after my ram smokes up. =)

Added on September 5, 2008, 2:57 amoh sh*t, im up to 800Mhz so far using CL5 and 2T.

It's stress testing, but I think I'm going to up it some more *shaking nervously*

Added on September 5, 2008, 3:13 amIt won't POST past 1:1 ratio.

Even though I've requested 800MHz, It's actually clocked at 775MHz right now, which is in-line with my FSB frequency of 387.5Mhz (x 8 = 3.1GHz OC).

The next step is 827MHz, where it won't boot.
So I'll stress test @ 775MHz for now, but it's better than 667MHz.
I haven't adjust vdimm yet which will be the next step.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I tried running the next step up - which is 827MHz.

Wouldn't POST at stock voltage, raised from 1.8 to 2.0 and after 1hr of stress testing, computer crashed.

Tried again, lasted about 2 hours and crashed again.

I didn't want to up the vdimm on the value RAM, so I settled back down to 77MHz for now. Will order some OCZ Reaper PC-6400 2x2GB this week and try again.

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, at least I get to enjoy some overclocking performance out of the Value RAM. =)
Price has come down a lot on the Reaper since the beginning of the year.
Ringgit is losing value, so I think prices will start coming back up. Better pick up parts while they're still reasonable.

ktek..shh, i 'borrowed' it from my office. =)

Reporting back to POC:

I'm not too happy with OCZ Reaper's OC ability, so far I can't get it stable past 1008Hz.
I loosened up the timings and adjusted the vdimm up from stock but I'll get errors in OCCT and Prime.
I was hoping for AT LEAST, 1066MHz.

Maybe a Kingston Hyper X or Crucial Ballistic next time. We'll see.

I'm already at vdimm 2.3 - my mobo will only go up to 2.5

Any suggestions?

Guys, need help. My rig now cannot post and has this error:

Award BootBlock Bios v1.0

Bios ROM checksum error

Detecting Floppy Drive A Media...
Drive A error. System Halt

This happened after I restarted my rig after the sound failed while playing naruto on Real Player. Restarted and no post no beep no screen. Powered off, took off rams, GC, cleared CMOS. Insert everything, restarted at 1st with continuous beep. Off and restart, this happened. May I ask what should I do next?
*
Is your CMOS battery still alive? Can you get into the BIOS setup at least?

I agree with @meno.

Try taking everything out, clearing CMOS, and putting everything back in, one by one.

Make sure the mobo is out of the case on a non-conductive surface like a table.

Some people have tried installing both RAM DIMMs in the same channel slot, and then switching to separate channel slots. RAM combination seems to have the biggest effect for some reason. Make sure you really cleared CMOS (unplugged power, and left the battery out for a few min).

Should be able to restart with default settings without any problem. Unless you totally killed your mobo. =(

Yeah, why have you blacklisted them?

Also, I've always wondered why the POC thread ended up in the 'Price/Dealers' section on LYN.

Shouldn't it be in the Overclockers category, or did we get kicked out for some reason? smile.gif

POC V4 anyone?
