For your question, i'd say the e2 series will still outperform the X2s generally.
But it all depends on your usage. Most of the time, the performance increase is not very obvious except if you're into task like video decoding and stuffs like that.

Moving from X2 to E2 will be pretty cost effective, but why not go for the 4 or 6 series C2D straight?
They aren't that expensive anymore.
If you could get a E6550 or something similiar for 3++, i'd suggest you go for that and forget the 2 series.

For those who have not received sms updates from Jaryl, he just informed that the venue for the Lanparty will not be available today, so it will be called off except if anyone would be able to suggest a new venue.

This is not a really good idea if u were to have it at the USM cafeteria.
U might get into trouble if someones complains that you were bringing in outsiders.
I was once in trouble for that, and you still have one year to go, so better not take any chances.
