Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz (2 CPUs) is dual core.
Of course a dual core processor always better than a single core processor. your old intel 2.6ghz is Pentium 4 right ? |

OT: i would like to share about a friend who has a damn lousy idea about dual core processor
He saw in the lyp's pricelist stating "AMD AthlonX2 Dual Core processor", and guess what he said? "Wow, the processor is dual core, yet X2 (times 2), so it means this processor is quad-core because dual core times 2 becomes 4!" And after I showed him the statement "Intel Core 2 Duo", he said almost the same thing: "Wow, the processor is dual core, yet got word for Duo there, so it means this processor is quad-core because dual core times Duo (2) becomes 4!" err, hope my story is understandable This post has been edited by kalakatu: Dec 29 2007, 06:09 PM |

A simple way to view it:
Dual core = Physically 1 processor only. Inside actually 2 CPUs. Quad core = Physically 1 processor only. Inside actually 4 CPUs. Dual CPU = Physically 2 processors. Inside each CPU could be 1, 2 or 4 CPUs. |

i try relate this in terms of cars ..
dual core is like 2 exhaust left n right at the back of ur car single is like only normal standard 1 exhaust so in output terms.. which u think better? err.. 2 processors..? maybe 2 different separate cars running each on its own This post has been edited by Kit II: Dec 30 2007, 10:36 AM |
