Hi,

Any comment on these 2 different phone OS? Is there any big different between them or only some minor things? Because I think now phone OS is a factor which needs to be considered too beside design, camera and etc..

So which mean a phone with S60 user interface symbian 9.2 and a phone with S40 v5 , then I should pick the S60 because it has more function than S40? How about stability leh?

Haha.. I think Symbian doesn't fully represent S60 coz there are a few more platforms that utilize Symbian OS such as Symbian UIQ (izit S80, if i'm not mistaken) and the old nokia 7710 (S70).

Considering S60 and S40, if you choose for easy-to-use phone, go for S40. It is a dummy phone compared with S60. S60 is for people who love additional features which the phone can be extended with 3rd party software (SISX and java) while S40 only supports JAVA.

Stability of cause S40.. unless latest phone with high speed processor & RAM, should be not much problem running symbian i think...

S40, nothing much can do.. just JAVA supported only..

Again S60 and S40 is different, s60 FP1 = symbian OS 9.2 while s40v5 is newer compare to s40v3

s60 is OS therefore the phone function can be expended using software while s40 cannot...

some difference like voice recording in s60 is only 1minute while in s40 is unlimited. This is because s60 is an OS, nokia want more people to write or purchase software to increase its capability. Therefore it limits certain feature in the phone like voice recording, however, installing software can record unlimited sound in s60

S40v3 and S40v5 difference is only the music player. Not other sinificant difference.

And s40 doesnt support multitasking

Yeah, s60 doest mean symbian, s60 is a range of phone by nokia that use symbian OS. Just because nokia s60 is famous, so every though s60 represent symbian. some even thing s40 is symbian 40 doh.gif

Btw, sisx or sis is just a container or installer.

S40 has all the basic features like unlimited recording, flash sms etc.

i think TS can also take S60 platform phones, as even for beginners, on the net there are much more 3rd party application which can be downloaded (namely .sis games, and themes)..
