Need advice on whether worth pay half or full. Napkin math suggested that even at a reasonable 6% return on investments, the ptptn loan interest I save is next to nothing compared to just lump sum the same amount into robo/index funds... by like 10x amount at the end of loan duration

hmm.gif with that logic,...i would just continue to pay monthly instead of pay half or full...
what is the monetary value penalty for non payment/late payment?...will it be lesser than the ROI that one make with the money from that monthly repayment? (going into robo/index funds  investment instead of ptptn loan)
if yes,..i would also consider that route  biggrin.gif  abate morally wrong  innocent.gif

extended 1% fixed rate interest, which is about 1.9% in practice I heard. I won't say its morally wrong, just not the most kind choice - my repayment schedule was 15 years anyway, not paying it off earlier than usual probably just mean the resource pool refills at normal rate...

If you can invest in other platforms and earn more, logically you should do that instead of settling the loan

If you can earn more as a businessman, why want to be employee.

I hope I read your post correctly.

Ah yeah, I get what you mean now, I derped out and couldn't get the meaning for a moment there.

Thanks to you two, just gonna drag it out and pay normally instead of taking up the discount and lose a bunch of cash for a measly 2-4k

No need to overthink le.

Just settle fully and have a peace of mind.

15% guaranteed discount, why not

Napkin math, on a 40k PTPTN loan:
Lumpsum into investment even at a modest 6% return will get me ~139% ROI or 55.8k;
Lumpsum for PTPTN discount will save me about 6k in interest and 6k on discounts.

55.8k - 12k = 43.8k difference in favor of investing. That's a pretty hefty price for peace of mind...

If my math are off or there are other benefits I'm not seeing, please do let me know though.
