Hey there, I'm currently shopping around for a point and shoot camera somewhere between the 500-1000 RM range. I was set at the cannon IXUS 70 but I heard it doesn't take good indoor shots; the video capability (shoots in .AVI format at 40 MB/s) isn't too handy either.
Can any of you recommend a camera that is within the price range mentioned, takes good photos indoor and outdoor, can be placed in my pocket, and has reasonable video capability?
I heard the Fujifilm Finepix 30 is quite a good camera, but it doesn't take SD-cards..doh.
Thanks.

AFAIK, the photographer plays an important role on how the pictures turn out =] I would anytime pick Canon over the rest though. Heh

Canon seems the option here looking at price/performance. I just bought a Sony T2 for my wife and if you increase your budget with a few hundred this is an excellent camera, especially knowing that it has a 4Gb memory built-in saving you the cost for buying that one.

If you want to take good picture with the budget you have for a new camera, pls try Power Shot series. It is defenitely better than Ixus 70.

Canon; Delighting You Always --- the tagline plays a role here and true enough Canon does produce wonderful cameras. For PNS cameras, I would always ask people to consider the Canon IXUS 860 IS model. Power packed with 8 MP, it has a stylish metal body with 3.8x wide angle lens which is crucial when it comes to landscape, group, architectural photography. The quality of the photos taken with this camera is stunning as you can see from this link --- http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/camera/review/149/page_6.html
Besides that, this model has above average capability in taking Macro photos (I've played with this camera and it's true). The only thing is that this model surpasses your budget but it is a model for you to consider if you'd want a small and good PNS. Try to check it out and I'm assuming that the price is around 1500k - 1400k (depending on shops) because last year this camera was priced at about 1600k plus.
