Add me N82 AP (RM1800)
V10.0.046
RM313

But i have one complain about the keypad, its small but still ok, however the joystick key make some loose sound and it is feels like it is falling apart compared to my Original N70Me. It is possible that the keypad especially the joystick is faulty? AP keypad? ohmy.gif . And the phone easily get a fingerprint, i have to rub it everytime. rclxub.gif . But overall its a very good phone

The keypad is making a "nyet" "nyet" sound especially the navi button, which annoying me, and the navi button is just too soft and pressing left or right is not as easy as older model like N70 and the feels is like the button is going to slip off the phone. Here is the picture to help everyone to imagine what is happening.

And the nyet nyet sound remind me of my old N70ME AP keypad. Anyone have this issue? If no then i might need to send to the service center to get this fixed. But again, overall this phone is superb, especially the Xenon flash. biggrin.gif

I would also like to know how that happened. But i do notice something on my real digital camera where there is an option to change the quality of the image even on the same resolution which is fine, normal, low even on the same 7.2mpixel. And the resulting file size is really different on each setting.

And this option not available on the N82, how bout the K810i?

QUOTE(hanissyazwan @ Dec 28 2007, 05:09 AM)
I don't know why the photo file size of N82 is similar to Sonyericsson K810I, which is approx. 700-800K bytes. However, the N82 is 5.0 pixels while K810I is 3.2 pixels. Anyone can explain why ???

Sent my N82 to COMSAT at Taman Maluri for check up as the Navi Key is making a metal scratching sound even though it is functioning well. End up the technician on duty doesn't know how to open up the phone and even told me there is no spare part available for the phone, in my case a keypad doh.gif . I choose to wait till Wednesday for an experience technician to come back from holiday. Wish my N82 to get back to a tip top condition soon. sweat.gif

I've subscribe for 1 month GPS voice navigation and all i can say is that, it is very well worth the money especially if you travel a lot. The GPS lock up very quick when outdoor, less than 30 second with 5 satellite signal received. I guess it is very good because the weather is very-very clear with less cloud over the sky today. Now waiting for my shipment of car mount holder and the car charger from Ebay to arrive and i will be well equipped for a long distance travel cool.gif

Its an Original Nokia AC-4 Charger, only 2.99 GBP but the shipment is 2.99 GBP which total up RM39.00. Any Nokia or Nokia Compatible car charger with 2mm plug can be used on the N82. You can buy the cheepo version available at most mobile phone shop if you want tongue.gif

Yes, i started with 50% battery and get a warning sound after around 1hour of driving, really desperately need a car charger. icon_idea.gif

Yes, i did read the Garmin installation instruction and was actually planning to installed it if i have the time. But it was a split second decision, i was driving around from home to the COMSAT in Maluri and was having this idea of testing the voice navigation. If your phone has a 3G enabled, the steps required to activate it is just a few minutes as long as you have a credit card. I have to say, the map is not that nice and details as on Garmin+Malsingmaps but the only thing i like is the voice navigation as its really give an instruction. I still remember the voice give and instruction from example xxxm before the U-Turn and at the U-Turn, it says, make the U-Turn now. Remind me of having my mum at my side while driving but with accurate navigation biggrin.gif

Yes, the satelite number is 5, i made correction on my first post. I guess the minimum number needed is 3 in order to get the accurate GPS coordinate on the ground. But i thought the satellite number can go up to 7? rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(gzero @ Dec 31 2007, 05:39 PM)
if you have followed through this thread closely, and carefully, you could have spend nothing, get a navigator much better than nokia's built in software, and map much more detailed than those you purchased from nokia tongue.gif and yes.. voice navigation included smile.gif but i guess it's alright since you only subscribed for 1 month biggrin.gif no harm trying out ..and what do u mean by over 5 satellite? I thought the max satellite signal supported is 5? At least that's the number of satellite i've observed at any one time.

Its USD11.76 for 30 days. tongue.gif

anyway, its good to have someone to test and try the voice navi and post comments here...smile.gif

Rationale, how much it charge for 1 month subs??
*
The Nyet-nyet is fine, eventhough i'm expecting a genuine Nokia doesn't produce such sound, because i have my genuine N70ME keypad change to an AP keypad and i get the same sound. Mine have a metal scratching sound like something broke
QUOTE(Victor3010 @ Dec 31 2007, 06:08 PM)
i think it's ok la...mine also a bit of nyet nyet sound one...but it's nt consider a navi wheel right??it can't work like an iPod...bt there's Nokia video which shows the n82 gt navi wheel feature...mayb firmware update would do the job
*
Fully agree, it takes me few minutes to activate the Nokia map voice navigation. The map is not that details, like no petrol station or landmark building but it works but of course with a "price" rolleyes.gif. I will give Garmin a try this weekend and i will post a review on this

QUOTE(pigcat @ Dec 31 2007, 08:30 PM)
I'm a N95 8GB owner and sadly I have to admit, even without flash, N82 take better photos in low light condition, something to do with the high ISO control, N95 8GB seems to blur the image badly with high ISO while N82 won't (read this somewhere, I think the website in the N82 vs N95 8GB startup youtube video). Can be fixed via firmware, but still xenon flash is way better, no need comparison.

However, in day light shooting there's virtually no difference. smile.gif

Added on December 31, 2007, 8:39 pm
I don't fully agree with that, although Nokia map sux on the details in countries like Malaysia, getting new map for the country you gonna travel couldn't be more easy than spending so much time searching the maps for like garmin mapking etc. Also searching places is really easy with nokia maps, and the GUI actually more easy to use than Garmin. smile.gif

But the navigation in Garmin really rocks, I must admit. thumbup.gif

Added on January 2, 2008, 10:18 amGuys need your help

1) The current price for Ori/AP set that you know?

2) N82 black edition? According to the website, it state that it will launch on 15th Feb. Anyone got any other news on this?
*
If you dont mind AP set, i can recommend one seller from lelong.com.my. I got my phone from him for RM1759, full set, nothing was changed except for the 2gb microSD adaptor (the blue color) is missing but i think because it is for Europe market and it is not included. AP set from Comsat. The color of the front cover is titanium and the set is made in Finland (7th and 8th digit of the phone's IMEI is 01) for Europe market.

http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2008-01D...r_low_price.htm

When the black edition is launched, you can surely find the after market housing to "upgrade" the current N82 to the latest N82 8GB or so called N82 Black Edition. tongue.gif

Yes, disabing the GPRS assist on GPS still works but a lot slower to get a lockup and while on a move, but you still need 3G or GPRS to download a route if you use voice navigation or when you want to calculate a route for a new source+destination when there is no "free wireless". rclxub.gif

QUOTE(pigcat @ Jan 3 2008, 05:45 PM)
For easier understanding,

GPS = using GPS receiver

AGPS = using GPS receiver + help of GPRS

Nokia has a CA-100 charger where u can plug in the USB port on PC/Laptop and the other end to the charger port of your N82. No USB to USB charger though as the phone doesnt support it. tongue.gif , try ebay, search for "Nokia CA-100 N82" and sort out by price+shipment=lowest
QUOTE(pigcat @ Jan 3 2008, 06:19 PM)
Downside is, the phone won't charge off by connecting to USB (same with all range of Nseries), and battery will very fast kong if continously charge with travel charger. sweat.gif If course if light use then OK la.

But still, if can charge via USB, then can basically use laptop to online anywhere liao with laptop on battery. When will Nokia make this a standard? sad.gif
*
This seams to be a normal characteristic of the Nokia N82, same with mine, the D-Pad making sound, i guess we have to wait for the latest N82 Black and hopefully Nokia rectify that problem tongue.gif

i agree on the black casing rationale.

Anyways, it is available 15 Feb 2008. Another 1 and half months for nokia elsewhere. Nokia Malaysia make it mac. coz they sure will be late as always.

Why wait that long for something you can enjoy now.... but if people want to wait, let them. own choice.

IMHO eventhough i like black, the picture shown in the page, is not that wow to wait for.

clsia1001 thanks man. Anyone have same problem with the N82 like me???

The maximum allowable charging current for Lithium Polymer meant for mobile phone is 1C derived from 1050mA/1050mAH = 1C, meaning that the maximum allowable current to charge a Lithium Polymer is 1050mA, but the recommended value for Lithium Polymer for mobile phone application is around 0.8C. Any higher would shorten the life of the battery and in worse case will turn it into a flame.

Lower C value actually better and improve the life of the battery, meaning that charging with lower current is much better and will increase the life of the lithium polymer battery. However the main concern is that does USB have enough power to power up both the phone and on the same time charging the Lithium Ion till fully charge within an appropriate time?

As indicated earlier USB would operate at 5v 500mA max and the Nokia AC-5E charger (travel charger come standard for Europe market) output specification is 5v 800mA which means USB is missing over 300mA of current. This means Nokia design the charging to be around 0.76C max when the phone is off on the AC-5E while the USB is at 0.48C with the phone power off. But again back to the previous statement, charging at lower C value is better just that it takes longer to charge the device. Anyone can clarify this? sweat.gif hmm.gif

The N82 is compatible with the CA-100, check this link

QUOTE(toughnut @ Jan 4 2008, 08:28 AM)
Each USB port can supply 500mah max. those Nseries battery capacity normally twice that. so USB port cant properly charged it. that just my assumption.

CSL seams to be in the middle between the Original Zitron/Avaxx and the typical AP set due to wide service center coverage as they have service center on nearly all state in Malaysia. Phone wise, aren't they all coming from Nokia? But package wise, its a little different as Zitron give 3 month free trial of the voice navigation? May need people using Zitron set to verify this. Anyone?

Small AP might not have the tools to fix your issue, big AP like CSL has "better" facility to fix problem. Original? The best and for cases like keypad issue, Zitron will fix it for free. AP company? Doubt they even have the parts ready even worse, they might fix it wrongly or experiment with your phone. rclxub.gif

Just make sure the list of item given as some shop tend to change the original parts and replace it with AP "Original" parts (which by the way not original because not produce by Nokia contractor factory or have the same quality) to lower their cost. So conclusion double check the item given. Good thing about buying N82 is that, there is no available AP "Original" parts so most likely you will get full set. Just be careful with the micro SD memory given, make sure its Nokia and its 2GB in capacity and the blue adapter given. Good luck rclxms.gif
