Anyone know whether the AP set N82 can view chinese words? Or it need a 3rd party software for that?

I am not sure if the Ori N82 already have built in chinese support?

Worth it?
He told me that CSL N82 is considered Original, is it true?

Hi guys, a couple of questions

1) Does your N82 comes with Panoman application that does the panorama function? I see it is missing from my N82, however the Quick Start book shows this. Anywhere I can download it? Can't find it at nokia site.

2) I notice the N82 that I have has some dust particles inside the case (mean in front of LCD), need to remove the case to clean it as it is quite obvious. Any advise? Mine is a AP set, so should I take it back to the seller / do it myself?

3) Hmm I am confused with the RAM size, in N82 specification listed as "Up to 100MB internal dynamic memory* for messages, ringing tones, images, video clips, calendar notes, to-do list and applications" - does this means that the 100MB is for storage and RAM purposes?

4) I notice the Camera function doesn't remember the last setting I chose, eg/ I set the flash to off, but the next time I use it again, it will be defaulted to auto. Anyone says otherwise?

Thanks

Can't help with the first 2 question as I don't have N82, however:

3) RAM means random access memory, it's used to temporary store the applications and datas that needed to stream very quickly. So once you load up an application it'll store in the RAM, and will delete from the RAM once quit. The internal dynamic memory means the phone memory, for you to store all the datas like what thumbdrive or memory card or harddisk do.

4) AFAIK, Nokia camera application is all like that... sweat.gif

Hi thanks for the info pigcat. That means the dynamic memore is for storage purpose and it is not the RAM size ya. I can't find the specification regading the RAM size. Any way that I check the RAM size without installing any 3rd party application?

1. Yes, Panoman should be included and the version is 2.2. No idea how to get it though. It's weird your phone does not come with Panoman. It's even weirder that Nokia does not offer the software exclusively to N82 users. Looks like you've got to pay to get the software, or with some luck maybe you can get the ehem version but probably you will get very old version. My advice is to return it to the seller and ask them why is the software missing and point out the software stated in the manual

2. How did those dust get into the screen in the first place? Has it been opened before? I hope not. Since you need to ask them the question about the software anyway, just go ahead and complain about the dust as well.
*
Thanks for feedback biggrin.gif Just a few more doubts

related to :-
1. It looks like when I got the mem card, someone might have removed the applications, so far its only Panoman is missing.
Btw, when you guys got your phone does it comes with some songs with no activation Keys? I notice a few songs with no activation keys activated, loaded in like Jacky Cheong - Hau Jiu Bu Jian.dcf and Eason Chen - Tao Tai.dcf song. And to activate it, need to pay RM5 via www.umobile.com.my. Just curious if you too have the same song loaded

2. Again I am not sure if someone actually openned it. Its a AP set though... when I got that I tot the dust was sticked onto the original screen proctector that comes with the phone, but after removing the screen protector the dust seems to be inside the case. Hmm... I guess I need to bring it back to the Seller. Any idea if we can remove the case ourself?

just now went to the seller. They managed to open the case and removed the dust particles. It seems the AP distributor opened the case to stick warranty sticker causes the dust to get in. Its fine now.
.
Next the panoman software isn't include coz its AP set. Anyway seem i need to purchase it

Did you manage to see the steps used to open up the housing?  tongue.gif  Or they didn't show it to you
*
Yes Just try to open from both side & top till the part above the keypad, you can see the plastic opening, to close just snap it back simple.

Btw, I saw in the phone explore and experience guide, there is a part it shows the Nseries PC suite comes with a Video Manager & Photo Manager, hmm but it is missing from my Nseries PC suite. Anyone can confirm if you have it? I have the Nokia Lifeblog & Adobe Photoshop Album instead. But missing the Video Manager doh.gif

Hi, just want to check if anyone encounter any problem with the sync of music files in "Music Player"?

The prob I had is : When you add a song to the phone it will auto detect the Album, Artist and etc, but when I delete the song from the mem card using the "Nokia Music Manager", the Album, Artist info is still there.

I not sure if this is a known issue or only me is experiencing such prob.

I experienced the same thing. I suppose it is a problem with the pc suite. Just delete manually on the phone lah...... thumbup.gif
*
Hmm... shakehead.gif Even delete from the phone, the music category from previous music uploaded still there, example the Album, Artist name from previous song is there, but inside is empty. That is strange, how do you remove those category then?

Can the moderatoradd this solution to the first page for known issues?

Found a solution. tested it works, looks like it happened also with N95 8gb brows.gif reference

Firstly, connect your phone to a PC via USB > Choose Data Transfer (a.k.a. Mass Storage). Do not select PC Suite because you won't be able to browse protected folders in PC Suite mode > Open Windows Explorer on your PC.

In all the 3 folders below delete all the files Not the FOLDER:
1) \private\101FFC31 on the phone's folder.* There, you should be able to find the mpxv1.mpd (for MP3) and pcv5.mpd (for AUDIO PODCAST)
2) \private\101f8857\Cache
3) \private\101ffca9

Now refresh ur music library.

IMO, For a device which will outdate in 6 months after another new N series comes out, its not worth the body protection considering most people change phone every 1-2 years.

Anyway I would be more pissed if my expensive watch is being scratched... btw, I always think buying an expensive phone is more expensive that buying an omega watch which cost RM5-6k, due to the fast technology change. For a quality timepiece, I could even pass it on to my kids and it will still be ticking. Just my own opinion though

Say... since N82 is a smartphone, it should be compatible with Outlook right?

So say... can I sync my contacts, calender and task to outlook from my SE K810 then sync the data into the N82?

Do let me know ya biggrin.gif

Added on January 31, 2008, 5:20 pmBTW, I'm running Vista... any issues with it?
*
Not sure if K810 can sync to outlook, but I sync my contacts, todo, calenders from Outlook to my N82, avoiding the hassle need to key in one by one.

i guess u r right...hmmm...maybe i ll convert videos to vga from now on....gaga....probably,i ll convert mp3s to m4a files as the sound quality remains the same, only the file size is smaller...hehe...in that way,i can save up more space for videos...hehe

m4a files I found to be bad quality for songs compared to the MP3. I notice that through earphone, and its quite obvious of the quality.

voice still needs to be purchased... stupid man... and I can't search for quite a number of places... eg Atria, Jalan Kerayong etc etc. Still GMXT + malsing the most detailed so far
*
After using GMXT for a few days, I found that Nokia Map navigation is more accurate and detail (in the sense of giving direction). Malsing maps is indeed more detail, but I would trust Nokia map navigation more afterall the navigation accuracy to me is more important. My experience using GMXT is somehow dissapointing, there was once it direct me to a wrong way (supposely I am on the one way of the LDP highway but the garmin navigation ask me to go opposite)

Anyone has setup Home Media network? From the guide it looks quite interesting where you can share/play media files between compatible devices such as PC, TV, Audio system, printer. I am going to set it up with my pc.
