i think both is usable, just depends on own preferences.

1 is Nseries PC Suite, while another is the generic one for all Nokia phones.

well, if you're using N series phone, why not use the Nseries PC Suite, it looks and feels more suitable, in black color some more.. smile.gif i'm using it btw..

What is the different between Assistant GPS & Normal GPS?
What kind of chipset N82 use? Does it SIRF III?
But I found out that it can lock satellite quiet fast (with in 10-15 seconds) with is very good.
How bout the accuracy compare with well know GPS (ie: Gramin).

Thanks.

A-GPS (Assisted GPS) means u are not only using navigation satelite to know where u are, but u are also using Base Stations (transmitter) of ur GSM/UMTS to find your location. there is a fee for using A-GPS because u are transmitting GPRS data to the stations for your triangulations. Where as Normal GPS is FOC even if you use it 24hrs a day.  rclxms.gif

For the chipset i am not sure myself. Maybe there the same with Nokia LD-4W Wireless GPS Module.

Locking may vary depends where you are. Cold fix may take 1 minute. for your 10-15 seconds it is hot fix. meaning the gps knows from your previous location, what satelite to look for. try a turning it on somewhere far. when u balik kampong maybe...

Accuaracy of GPS in theory now is 10m. However my previous experience with Garmin, if u can get more than 7 sat at a time, u maybe able to go below this. Max sat at a time can be seen in Malaysia is 9 sats will give u accuracy of 1m and below. Have yet to get the oppurtunity to try it with N82.

With the Garmin GPS, there is an averaging function where the longer u stay the more accurate your position is by taking average reading.
Thanks bro for ur explanation. Now I understand it better.

Memory Full Error

Hi guys,

Today I keep facing this problem. When I want to open HELP options from any applications I will get an error message Memory Full 2.
Does it mean my memory is full? But when I display show memory, it display 114MB Free Memory & I only running 2 apps on background.
1) Active standby
2) SMS Schedule
Anyone can help me on this?
Does we still need apps like Task Manager for N82 as I tot memory management is better on our phone.

Thanks.

To see your memory and other status, download Device Status from Nokia. U can see how many free RAM u have. Download the phone (.sis) version here

http://www.nokia.com/A4596393

After dnload u can clarify how much RAM is free. I have checked, the helps files only use 1MB RAM.

Hope it helps rclxms.gif

Hi Bro,

Device status summary show me that I still got :

RAM memory: Free: 82 MB, Total: 120 MB

It should be more the enough to run Help apps.
Strange...

Hi Guys,

whistling.gif Just want to share some background of mine. I came from Palm user (white side), moving to WM5 (black side), upgrade to WM6 & now here I am on the Grey side (Symbian LOL icon_rolleyes.gif ). Based on my exp using all this 3 platform @ OS, I want to say Symbian (N82) is the best so far in term of OS capability & hardware spec rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif . Long live symbian rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif . A lot of thing I can do now using this SUPERB N82 compare with my old 838 Pro. There is still some con, lacking (or maybe I don't know) some of the advance software like expenses tracking (I'm using handy expense now) etc2.

Notes:

Palm - Palm Tungsten, XT & Clie 600 (I think)
WM5 - Dopod 818 Pro, 838 Pro

Those are the serious problems i currently have.

Nokia has con us all. N82 is not a smartphone... it is a SUPERPHONE thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif  flex.gif  rclxms.gif

I have tried it. Mapking software is better than garmin but map wise malsing is better and malsing don't support mapking for symbian yet. So too bad for mapking
*
Oh really doh.gif
But last time when I use mapking for WM, I think Garmin is more user friendly.

Good News Guys.
I have had time today to run away from my boss and do some testing. Here are the results......

Accuracy

Number of Sat

Added on January 3, 2008, 11:42 amA-GPS is used each time you dont get a fix or u loose your fix.

Each time u on ur GPS it sends A-GPS.

Eventhough your gps is on and you got fix, then u move to an area where u loose your fix the thing sends A-GPS again.

Meaning from KL to your home, if you loose fix for 10 times, A-GPS is 10x.

I have tried and check, for each time A-GPS i am charged 6-8 sens. thats alot if x10.

No need for A-GPS un less u r speedracer and need position fix very fast.

hope that helps.

Nokia PC Suite vs NSeries PC Suite

Hi guys,

Based on my experience, below is some pro & cons for both.

PC Suite
Pros:
All in one software
Messaging support
Best syncronisation support of the lot (files etc)

Cons:
A bit clunky

NSeries PC Suite
Pros:
Shiny and Shmick interface
Web installer is handy

Cons:
No Messaging or contact support

PC Phone
Pros:
Speedy and not cluttered
Messaging support
Conversation like message listing

Cons:
Can't sync what so ever (favourites, Calendar, contacts, files etc)
When sending txt msg's, have to search for recipient by surname
Messages appear as a phone number, not an address book listing

For me, I use both laugh.gif
