Hopefully if nothing goes wrong 2molo i will go get N82 original set. Now few question to ask

1)Do i really need upgrade firmware? Worth? Most important is it support Flash player.. other is still ok right? Or we can actually dl other software to replace the flash?

2)How long u upgrading ur firmware using 1MB streamyx line? I saw it say 4hours. So for new phone is it advice to upgrade? Do i need to keep charging the phone while upgrading?

3)How long 1st time charging?

4) wad to do with new phone? Anything to do or testing the phone? LCD, Screen colour n bla bla?

1.) Always get latest firmware. The upgrade not only support Flash in browsers and got many other things. Need to refer to Nokia site for more details. icon_idea.gif

2.) I upgraded my N82 within 30 mins. The updater advice to keep charger connected with the phone. smile.gif

3.) 1st time charging adviced to charge 8hrs. But I don't think got any use for Lithium batteries. rolleyes.gif

4.) Better test it on the spot before you pay. Check LCD for dead pixels, scratches, memory card size, accessories, if possible test calling it. laugh.gif

Hope these helps ! Since you are getting original set, shouldn't have any problem la. whistling.gif

Hollywood aside, i think a realistic corporate espionage scenario would be some developer grunts who did not satisfy with current company and decide to payback laugh.gif so they most likely to use your normal everyday tools such as camera phone.
As for the red light. If you would find one than most likely it will come from china or some chapalang kind. All the major players will comply with the current regulations as they definitely do not want to hang their head to be sued due to not following current regulations / standards.

Heres an article that has expressed concern on cameraphones

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/0,1000000...39174085,00.htm

a quite old article but it serves as an example of the level public awareness; even tho 2004 the best camera phone would be something like 1.3mp-2.0mp?

I have no problem with that as it does not actually compromise with the end result (to a certain level)

As you can see the result is pretty much good (its set to close up mode without flash) so i dont have too much issue with it.
*
What laws or regulations in Malaysia to ask manufacturers installing the red light? Can you enlighten me on this legal aspect?

I got a Samsung phone last October, no such nonsense reg light in their phones.

Consumer's freedom of choice is more important, not those companies worry that their secrets may got steal with our handphones.

Who are buying phones from manufacturers? Who pays Nokia? We consumers or companies? Nokia want to be moral police? Sorry, they will not get my money anymore.

My trained eye can spot reddish color at the edge of your picture. drool.gif That is unacceptable for semi-pro users.

I used to have an infra red camera bought from Russian sailor, that kind of camera is good to sneak bohsia in action, not N82. thumbup.gif

Don't constraint yourself in the bound of Malaysia. Heck if anything Malaysia would be the last one to implement / enforce it. I myself not a student of law but i do attend ethics and law class during my studies.Heres another interesting article about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_phone#Laws

Such places include the Pentagon, federal and state courts (see, for instance, [10]), museums, theaters, and local fitness clubs. Schools have banned them over the concern that they could be used to take images of notes that can be used in order to cheat on exams. One country, Saudi Arabia, in April 2004, banned the sale of camera phones nationwide for a time before reallowing their sale in December 2004 (although pilgrims on the Hajj were allowed to bring in camera phones). In South Korea and Japan, all camera phones sold in the country must make a clearly audible sound whenever a picture is taken: These laws are intended to reduce the number of up-skirt photos taken. In Singapore, camera phones are banned at companies or facilities that have an association with national security. In Europe, some BDSM conventions and play parties ban cellphones altogether to prevent camera phone abuse.

damn. they even got a BDSM conventions laugh.gif

As i mentioned earlier, The public awareness about the use of Camera phone is rising with the newer, better quality cameras so enjoy your samsung phone. That probably the last of the few that actually was built not for international market.

Here are few links about it

Well the issue about privacy concerns did actually come from the public itself hence the corporation obligated to it (in order to penetrate more international markets) based on the awareness trend. Thats why our firmware (the apac version) Does not come with the ability to silent the shutter sound while the europe ones can. This is because probably the regulations over there just only need a flashing red light as a sign of picture being snapped.

As i posted before , the tolerance to the quality is different between professions / standards. Me being a regular-joes when it comes to photography level of quality already impressed when the texts /lousy handwriting can be read visibly. A semi-pro user like you definitely have a better quality camera with set of image editing tools ya?

I think palm-size camcorder and thumb-size camera can be a better spying tool than N82. Most camcorders and camera still allow the user to turn on or off flashing red light.

I agree that many sex perverts abuse cameraphones, but the fault is not the tool itself. Our kitchen knife can be misued to slaughter innocent people. So.. we shall come out another law to control kitchen knife as well. rclxub.gif

Pin-hole camera can be more damaging than cameraphone, stricter control shall be on the pin-hole camera, not the cameraphone.

I see only third world spy will use cameraphone like N82 to sneak into Whitehouse or Singapore military secrets. brows.gif

Myself put the customer's freedom of choice in higher priority than nonsense privacy control gadget. My money will go to those companies who listen to customer's voices afterall this is free market.

Yay, personal attacks! You fail both at logic and at flaming.

But fine let me humour you. So assuming a professional, film-using photographer uses the N82 to check shooting conditions. He then uses his expensive camera to take the final photos, no?

And if so, will it matter a single bit if the photo taken by the N82 has a small reddish hue in one corner?

No.

By the way, are you a girl or a guy?

Are you discriminate on gender or another sex pervert who misuse of N82? Gender is irrelevant in IT forum.

Ignorant is called personal attack. The God must be crazy now. Go learn from pro. cameraman to know how ignorant you are. Ignorant is not equal to logic.

I ask your gender because generally guys are supposed to be able to argue with logic, but you are living proof that there are exceptions to every rule.

Not only did you totally and conveniently ignore all my arguments, but your choice of comeback is terrible. Terrible in that I don't even understand what the hell you're trying to say. And even after I translate this literally into chinese I still don't understand. Here's a tip: read this website before replying, otherwise I will not continue this argument with you (don't want to get infected with your stupidity.)

And let me quote you again.

So let me get this straight. I don't know much about professional photography, by all reasonable estimations a niche hobby/profession, and that makes me ignorant and clueless about THE REAL WORLD???!?!?!??? Damn, I bow to your superior reasoning, please oh great Fearless, teach me more about this photography that you are so pro at, otherwise I will starve and die!!!!!!

What logics you already know in your mind? You must be a girl IF I accept your testament on your gender discriminatory logic.

Ignorant is used to describe someone knows nothing about a subject. IF I call you girl or boy to win my argumnent in this forum, that is considered a personal attack.

Your logic was that semi-pro or even pro cameraman cannot own a low quality cameraphone is a clear sign of your clueless on the real life. A small reddish hue can be accepted by semi-pro or pro is your own imigination, not the logic.

Seems it's hard for you to understand imigination and logic?

N82 is a cameraphone with photo taking is one of its features. How on earth you are telling me the discussion on N82's photo quality and feature is out of topic?

Myself and another N82 kaki discussed on red flash light issue, not your girl photos. So...your logic is flaw again. rclxub.gif

As N82 newbie like me,

1. Read the user manual first.

2. Read this forum page by page.

3. After you finish step 1 and 2, then ask other kaki here for guidance.

Looks like it has the same problem like if we reinstall Windows again, some apps just dun work anymore. shakehead.gif
