It took me 15 minutes for the whole process, quite fast. probably because of the internet connection.

Uzumaki, it's very very easy. Much easier than SE Phone (I'm using W850i) back then. Just plug in the USB and start the Nokia Software Updater. Changing the region won't void warranty? If you just want to remove the shutter sound, check this apps http://news.mobile9.com/s60apps/2007/08/20...-by-chua-welic/ someone did mentioned this earlier, I forgot which page.
*
Many thanks for the insights. Never know changing region will void warranty. Does it applies to AP set too? As for the app, tried ccam but it lacks setting which is a major turnoff. But I've tried it already as for now if i want to capture sleeping baby pictures its easier to use this.

Added on April 8, 2008, 9:24 pmI think you don't need to backup anything, but it's better to be safe than sorry later on.

All my data is still there after the update so i guess the user preservation software works?

3G modem vendors in Law Yat really suck, they are so shameless to quote RM800++ to RM900++ for Huawei USB 3G modem. One of them is Celcom agent.

My face implicately shown them what is fxxx up sign and straight walked away.

Finally I decided to get N82 set to serve as 3G modem plus many other functions. I did not go for cheaper offer, but from a shop with good attitude salespersons.

That's bad. If you pull out the cable now it will surely brick the phone right? sweat.gif

it's fine now.
good thing it hangs a few seconds into the flashing..

tried it a further 3 times,same result.
something in this laptop is at fault.

anyway,for future reference for the rest;
the minute the NSU hung up, i just opened the task manager, forcefully closed the NSU.
then took out the charger, and battery from the phone.
finally the USB cable.

put the battery back, pressed the on button, and it works again like before.

so i guess updating isnt on my to do list just yet tongue.gif

*just to be sure, does the nokia pc suite effect the NSU?
or is the NSU a stand alone program?
thanks*

Phew.. rclxms.gif

Hmm. I'm sure you'll still need the PC Suite for to use NSU. What's wrong with your pc suite? I'm using the Nseries pc suite btw, in case that might have any effect on the NSU itself. Since my update went smooth.

You need the latest PC suite and NSU install in your machine. And yes, restart your PC after installation. Anyone with Vista managed to update N82 successfully....?

11:28am - Reinstall NSU 01.04.036.23635
11:34am - Restart NSU. Current: 11.0.117 Update: 20.0.062

*Edit: I can d/l 23MB NSU in 3 min, but need 50min for 114MB, which should be d/l in 15min mad.gif

This is a stupid question. How to turn off keypad lock, I found the lock is very irritating.

Finally I found the setting instruction in page 104 of user guide. This is price of switching from other brand h/p to Nokia. rclxub.gif

To turn off keypad lock:

Goto Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> General -> Security -> Phone and Sim -> Keypad autolock period -> Set to None

Hope this helps. whistling.gif
