Guys, Ive been doing weightlifting for almost 2 years since I was in University until working..
In my room, i have a couple of dumbells, barbell, pushup bar, bench press and so on.
But lately I found that I dont have much time to follow my workout schedules. I always misses out my workout schedules..
The result, I became a BIT fat. Peoples around me cant tell the differences but I can tell because its my body.

Btw, my weight is 74 KG. Im a bit bulk and muscular type of body but not as muscular as hardcore bodybuilder.
Im working as a programmer which needs me to sit on a chair infront of laptop monitor from 10 a.m until 7.00 p.m. Only my mind and hands are working.

So, just let say that I dont want to continue doing weighlifting anymore, can I substitute it by doing pushup everyday since it doesnt require much time and I can do it before I go to work on d morning.

And can I just do pushup only to gain more muscles? If yes how? How many reps should I do everyday? How many sets?

If need be as a start, try doing 42 times pushups, 1 minute rest then start 42 situps with a minute rest. Repeat the cycle again twice or thrice. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hoho, I see. That way you ain't got no choice la. Have to go swimming or jog every morning. laugh.gif

The best workout is a total body workout, however by doing pushups and situps it'll help to maintain your body shape coz mostly for men, the fat is accumulated at the abdomen part. So pushups and situps will help maintain it. To workout other parts, have a regular jog or a swim every once in a while. icon_rolleyes.gif

TS, I had similar problem too where exercise is usually skipped due to workload and timing and because of it, I had reduced my workout plan to push-up and sit-up. It sure help to maintain the body shape but just bear in mind that you wil be doing similar workout everyday and you will be tempted to want to try out other kind of workout, hence putting a stop to the push-up and sit-up. Just keep focus on these two simple workout and it will help out with the body shape.

Agree. It might sound simple but it does affect your body. It helps to build muscles and strengthen your body part while keeping it in shape. So, it's good when you don't have much time to go to the gym and do a whole body workout. icon_rolleyes.gif

Find a partner and do the nude Greek wrestling thing, it's never boring.

If you can afford it, I recommend the Bioflex full body workout system,

May i suggest pull-ups to be included in your routine? IT's much better than just plain squats.

As you progress, maybe you can incorporate handstand push-ups and single legged squats if you have the time to do it.

Yeah, agree with pull-ups too. Maybe someday can get a body like Will Smith in I Am Legend. brows.gif

Use to do all those handstand pushups when was training to learn breakdancing. Those were the time where I was truly active. nod.gif

The workout plan that I currently adopt consist mainly of push-up and sit-up though ocassionally I will add on other exercises such as pull-up and dumbell lifting, if there is time in the morning. The main two exercise workout will receive 4 sets each with 20 reps in each sets and it usually takes up about an hour or an hour and 15 minutes.

Anyone want to share their personal workout plan? smile.gif

As stated earlier, I do regular pushups and situps every morning then continue with either jogging or swimming. 42 pushups with a minute rest, 42 situps a minute rest and continue the cycle for a couple of times. icon_rolleyes.gif

Doing push ups is good exercise, but I'm afraid it won't really help you build much muscle though. To do that you'll still need weights.

Thanks Polaris for the image inserted in your post. It failed to load previously while I was viewing this thread but not today. I sure do want to get my hands on that thing but sadly one of the forumers claim that there is no shipping into Malaysia. I will try to find out in some of the fitness specialized outlet to see if they have anything similar to it or not and will have the items post up here is there is any.
Any updates from your side, i_love_japan?

I think I saw some fitness shop in Midvalley selling handles for pushups.
I mean of course it aint the machine, but with the handles you could practically have countless combinations.
Just refer to the diagram, place the handles in the right position and you're ready to go!

Price? Not sure about that man, maybe <RM100. Then again, I'm not sure.

agreed. handle will be useful enough. Thanks for the diagram. frankly, i'm doing push up all the days, everyday doing 50 times only. haha... still a beginner and wat i can see, my chest getting bigger. haha.... wit this diagram, i fully understand, how those muscle part will be build based on diff position of your hand.

one more question. is there any difference, by using our palm for push up with using the handle or the machine?

Thanks. its reli helpful.

Well. As far as I know, you can go lower with the handles and machine, so it makes your pushups more effective for your chest, but when you go lower than your torso's plane, it will strain your shoulders. Well then everything comes at a cost.
And maybe it's less taxing on your wrists? That I have no idea.
Oh yeah, I saw those handles again. This time by Nike. They're selling it for RM69. At the top floor of Midvalley at the Nike shop. Saw it yesterday. icon_rolleyes.gif
Cheerios.

EDIT: I just realised. You cant go lower with the machine since the base is blocking your torso from going any further. So just the handles then. laugh.gif

there are different workout to built up different part of muscle... for push up, you can built up you chest, triceps biceps shoulder..... go for swimmming... you really can get a better result if you do these both... just use a bit time... like weeknd, relax and go for a swim.... hope you can do it ya... but the clear results will be proven after about 4 months la
