lost my elder sis because of cancer in 2004... ovarian cancer... detected in 98/99 when she was 13/14 years old... few times of relapse, lots of operation and chemo... you might think it's quite young to be detected with ovarian cancer at 14 but trust me, when you went to the hospital, there are some who are even younger that are detected with ovarian cancer.

actually we might be able to prevent this because when she was really young (forgot how old is she), my mum saw some blood stains on her panty. then brought her for check up at one of penang's private hospital. done some scanning and the doctor said they detected a tiny growth but the doctor said it's not dangerous, will be ok and it will be gone by itself. so, my parents really took the advice.

my advise is, always seek for second opinion. and yeah, healthy lifestyle.

My elder sis passed away because of cervical cancer. She was only in Standard 6 (yes, that young) when she was diagnosed with that. Fought with the disease for 7 years. Lots of chemotherapy, operations and relapse.

Cancer runs in our family (dad side). Grandma, grandpa, 2nd uncle and my sis passed away because of cancer.

And I totally agree that the cost for cancer treatment in HKL is a lot cheaper. I'm not sure how's the service now but, when my sis was seeking treatment at there, it was good.
