dam , when theres a chinese song , my ipod restarts....restored back to the normal firmware =.=

mine works fine...even with chinese...5g

install to my ipod last night... so cool!!

yeah i it can works with 5G video.

1. download the firmware where to confirm ur iPod Video is 5G or 5.5G (5.5G is with search function).
2. then when u downloaded the firmware.
3. Plug in ur iPod to ur computer or laptop. (iPod window format support only not mac format)
3. open iPodWizard.
4. choose firmware file then locate ur firmware.
5. after that just click Write to iPod.
6. wait it finish to change the firmware. that's all.

post here to get solution if anythings go wrong. if somethings go wrong u can always go back to the original iPod firmware. no worry.

correction on the format...
yes, ipod mac format oso can...but, need to use ipodwizard under windows...

i did mine, 5G ipod mac format...

oh is it ? but last time i try i can't leh... but next time i will try to use mac format iPod. but weakness is if u want to attach ur iPod (mac format) in windows os, windows just can charge ur iPod battery but can't mount it. ermm correct me if i'm wrong and thx for ur information d@odao

if using mac format ipod cannot use with windows itunes...it will asked for re-formating to wndows file format...
but, for this hack using ipodwizard it can...

yes i know what u mean. i didn't confuse. use wondering y last time i can't do that. haha. anyway i really thx for inform me. i really tot iPodWizard can't change the iPod mac format. anyway, can i know do u know how to do with those file Extras ? i read the readme but i don't know how to do that... erm some art album i put is like rectangle not square so it doesn't fix the whole screen. need to fix it.

...i just to knw abt tis hack tis morning...maybe will try to explore more...

yes u choose the firmware file then u browse it then wait it to load and then click on write to iPod. make sure u connect ur iPod. ermm if something goes wrong with ur firmware u can anytime restore to original iPod firmware by disk mode.

as my personal tried the new iPod touch firmware in my iPod 5G. ermm is a bit slow compare to original. some more some function i can't play well like photo import that let me connect my camera to my iPod. but seems like can't. anyway i like the new interface

when i want to write the firmware to the ipod an error showed that i must closed all programs that use IPod like ITunes, but i don't use any. What happen?

well i didn't have this kind of problem. ok i think do it with this way.

1. connect ur iPod to ur computer or laptop. select ur iPod. do not check the "open iTunes when iPod connect"
2. eject ur iPod and quit iTunes.
3. connect ur iPod again, and launch iPodWizard.
4. load the firmware and click on write to iPod.

if not try to restart ur computer or laptop and try once again. sorry i didn't have this problem so i just guessing is it ur iPod check the "open iTunes after iPod was connected" GUESSING

open task manager.. at the processes tab.. close ituneshelper.exe and iPodService.exe

Then open Ipodwizard and connect your Ipod to your computer.. hope this helps

I already upgraded my Ipod Video 5.5G to the Touch firmware with no problems..

Just flashed it to this firmware and i must say it's GREAT!

yeah actually i had tried both firmware for my iPod Video (Classic to Video and Touch to Video). but i found one important things should be correct it. well it will be chinese fonts it didn't look like the original apple firmware chinese font and size. because mostly my iPod store chinese songs with chinese title. it seems to be hard to read it . do anyone know how to do change that ?

I bought that skin online a year ago. You could try LYP for custom skins shops i guess by now

I can't get my 5.5 works on chinese songs unless I change all chinese songs title to pin yi. That's the primary bug known for me aparts from the out of sort main menu selection. So far I am content with the UI and can't wait for improvements.

i got hundreds of chinese songs. i won't change it. change till siao. haha

Added on January 2, 2008, 5:37 amwell instead of wait the hack to improve i tried to play with it myself. i just copy my old fonts firmware fonts to my iPod yes finally the chinese words work out but now is the english works problem again. some more those words layout not the same already. i will play around with that when my holiday comes. will post if there is any solution.
