Its not really better than my HP/Compaq Centrino laptop sound system. A-B testing same song, now switching the same Edifier headphone between the two.

i went to lowyat just now. bought 3 protector, one for screen, one for keypad area and one for the camera lense cover for rm15. then bought silicon case for rm10. all for rm25. nice or too expensive?
*
The protector is around 10 bucks. I got mine at Digital mall PJ and the seller installed it very carefully for me. If I'd done it myself I probably messed it up.

BTW, I spent sometime loading some java based apps to my phone for fun. A lot of these are freeware.
KD Music Player : Alternative to the pre-loaded player
World Clock : To see world time
Metric Converter : Convert something to somthing else?.
2 days ago?... NOKIA DYING ringtone.. my phone rang inside a lift and everybody giggled.

Jeez..I love this phone.. my previous Nok 6600 was BORING!..

Is your protector same as below link? Pls click me notworthy.gif

Click Me

The seller told me it is not lens protector but only stick it on the camera cover(the one push up push down).
*
Looks the same.
Yes..the 3rd piece is to protect the camera cover. Actually I find the camera pics only so-so, not as good as a real 3.2mp compact digicam. The optical lens is so much smaller than in a real camera. Better pictures means bigger lens..No 2 ways about it. We shouldn't be taken in too much by the "Cybershot" branding on a phone.

That's the reason why it is a camera phone, not a digital camera. Dont expect much from it.
But for me i find the pictures that it produces are nice depends on how good are u at it.
Shoot more and learn more.
*
Right on man!..
U know I suffer like hell when I was using a Nok 6600 for some years.. I was so pissed with the camera that I either refuse to use it or forget there's one there. I'm happy I've changed my phone...so much more at ease and interface with my laptop.

BTW, anyone bought and used MSI StarKey 2.0 Bluetooth dongle?. How much and am thinking of buying one for my desktop rig to interface with my phone.

you can use any bluetooth usb 2.0 with the phone.
i am using the non branded usb bluetooth i bought at rm17 and it works well. i can even listen to the music from winamp
thru bluetooth stereo headset.
*
My BT module in my laptop is Version 2. It works flawlessly.
I just found back my long and rarely used MSI MS-6267 (100meter range) which I bought few years ago.
I just installed SP2 drivers. Its version 1 hardware and a simple test of viewing a test 3mp camera pic from the memory stick is much slower when reading out to the desktop than from the laptop, with PC Suite.
Yes, the transfer speed seems much slower. I think sometime this week, Maybe, I'll go and find another MSI V2 BT dongle at Low Yat. I don't trust those cap ayam dongles. Buy once and for all.

all 3 for rm15 only.

Price of this items seems to vary greatly. Anything from RM6 to RM15. The seller told me its locally made (or packed). I don't think there's much difference in quality. Most important its well installed and no air bubbles, it'll last a lifetime till you sell off the phone.
This should be the first item purchased from Day 1. Surely most owners like their brand new phones to look prestine and it'll be a plus point when selling it off. I find the crystal covers a little too thick and maybe an irritation when pressing the side buttons. If the crystal case were any thinner, it'll break easily. Can't have everything lah. laugh.gif
OK..me going out now to find a new V2 MSI BT dongle.. the old one a bit slow.

1) To get into service mode : >*<<*<*
2) Goto Service settings
3) Select Charging on or off.
4) Press Back button to exit and you're done.
5) Connect your USB cable and see the battery indicator should be charging.

No need to install PC suite for this facility. Hope that helps.

but still can't charge.

Hope you didn't fool around and flash modded firmware, or try with another USB cable and see if it works, otherwise there's something wrong internally.

hmm..any idea to block certain calls with k810i?
*
If not mistaken you can only block calls in your phone book.
Goto Menu, Settings, Calls tab, Manage Calls, Accept calls, Only from list, New...you add/select the names you want to reject.
I believe its the same with K800i too.

anyone~ i've seen sumbody mod their k810 menu like the flash menu on w-series n on k850..
it's kinda cool..
but it this safe? n really be like the flash menu? tq..
*
Until one study and understand well the modding tutorials, flashing modded firmware and features is always risk. Not as simple as flashing mobo bios. Having said that, its always hoped that modded firmware doesn't lead to other bugs and problems. Goes without saying, flashing "extras and mods" will void the warranty.

wow... 4gb... tat's great...
will the phone lag if used 4gb?
k810i oni support m2,rite?
*
I'm to believe its like this.

Lets say you've got 2 memory cards.
Example 1 :
2GB card = 500 files
4GB card = 500 files
Both will take same time to read out, no lag.

It'll be obvious when you store more files in the 4GB card, it'll take more time to read out, resulting in lag.

I've read many owners seem to have no problems with 4GB card, BUT
Factors to consider.

1) 4GB card didn't exist when K810i was launched. SE specs says up to 2GB only. So it could compatible but not entirely.

2) Old card readers can't fully format or access 2GB capacity. You'll need a new/current card reader that fully access up to 8GB or more. This means the reader chip have capacity limitations at the point of invention. The phone may have a similar problem in theory due to hardware limitations.

3). K810i may see up to 8GB memory card but may only report back 2GB or 4GB depending on the chipset (check memory status), which no-one knows if one have updated hardware for full compatibility. Some owners may be lucky, some not. Its not conclusive at this point, and not entirely blame the firmware.

I've no way of confirming my phone can use 4GB or 8GB card, as all new ones are SEALED packed, can't test out fully.

hm... can consider get a 4gb instead of 2gb if i buy k810...
hopefully by the end of tis month can get 1...smile.gif

any pros N cons for tis phone?
*
No EDGE feature..but not important if you don't use it.
Of course don't compare with W series audio features...no MegaBass and Walkman buttons.
Some people don't like the buttons design. I thought the K850i buttons looks even worse and bland.
Joystick a bit fiddly especially if one have big fingers.
Camera just ok.... Pictures are somewhat lacking vibrance and color. High noise with zoomed pics. Please don't compare with real Cybershot camera which have bigger lens and optical zoom.
Other than those, bang for the buck features and performance at sub RM800 category. Nokia can't offer the same phone features at this price.
Don't get poisoned by people talking of modded firmwares. Its risky business unless you understand the science of it all COMPLETELY!. You may dead-brick the phone for no logical reason.

thanks bsl555 & eternity4av...

EDGE izzit 2.5g?
my 6230 got tis feature but never used b4...
so not big deal too if dunhv...
*
As I said, EDGE is not really important with mid priced cellphones. Its not popular here as ISP's are not offering cheap EDGE plans, and phones aren't user friendly for internet use...better off with Wifi laptop.
Malaysians are wary and calculative, when it comes to $$ factor on extra subscription and added services which ISP
s don't have affordable packages., Ironically most people are making ISP' s rich with huge number of sms's flying round every second!.

totaly a nightmare, so for others, please beware when you buying from a shop, and yet the best is always is mostly people recommended ones.

Bound to have a lot of scumbag sellers around to con anyone for a fast buck in big shopping complexes. Best to be armed with keeping touch of phone secrets, user opinions and always asking the seller who their AP source. If they mention some farnie and unheard off names, the warranty sticker looks fake on actual phone, just leave the shop immediately..there's many other shops to browse...thats my shopping policy.
