Get 2 Gigs rams instead of 4. Pump your Processor 1st. Then upgrade your rams later.

Yo dude, invest in a 600W PSU and a nice casing that'll provide the necessary air flow and minimal acoustic disturbance to your ear.

For 22" LCD, I advise you circle around Samsung/LG/Dell, which ever suits your eyes and pocket, just grab em.

For GPU, I'm not sure getting a 8800GT better or a cheaper dual GPU SLI setup better...

I got no idea what mobo as I'm no Intel experts... AMD at least I know lah...

CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E6750/Q6600
RAM : 2GB Crucial Ballistix or Team Xtreem(OC) or else KVR ok lah
HDD : WD 320GB SATA2 16MB
DVDRW : Samsung 20X Sata(OK but i prefer sony and LG)
Mobo : Im clueless.. I reccomend Abit IP35 Pro but if no OC Abit IP35-E also ok
GC : Nvidia 8800GT 512MB,which brand should i go for? Whatever also ok but i think Palit Sonic offer best value with bundle game and better HSF,855 is good price
LCD : 22' wanted..again which one?Dell one,cheap and good
Casing:I will recommends Lian-Li PC7A plus II but other also ok
PSU:I recommends Corsair 450W but a lot of which is also ok(Seasonic,Gigabyte,Silverstone,Acbel...)

when are you planning to get it?

cpu: either e6850 or q6600 RM 930
ram: 4gb value ram 800/667 if not going to do oc. both ddr2 667 & 800 doesn't differ much in performance but their price doesn't far apart. so..up to you. RM 80 each for ddr2 800, RM 70 each for ddr2 667 (1gb per stick)
hdd: wd/seagate 320gb RM 275
dvdrw: any.. RM 130
8800gt RM 950
mobo: gigabyte P35-ds3 RM 385
PSU: silverstone 560w RM 350
casing: from cheap casing RM 80 to few hundred.

approximate total: RM 3420 w/o lcd.

LCD: depends... some like this some like that.. you need go to see by yourself. i like samsung most. i have no idea on RMA issue. (allow 1k budget here)

ANY brand of 8800gt, unless you wan go for pre-oc vga. like zotac amp, asus top, xfx xxx edition, etc.

used to be recommend of gigabyte p35-ds3...but i heard it's not going to be available anymore.. unsure.gif

well...personally i dun like samsung and LG dvd-burner. i heard ppl recommended on Pioneer and asus... LiteOn is noisy while running(my gf using)...

Hrmm this seems a good suggestion. Will quad core differ alot with the E6750?? I know its 4 instead of 2 cores, but will it make a noticeable difference?

The mobo decision is by far the hardest,i have no idea where to start. N btw,im not looking to OC if that helps smile.gif

And guys, where is the cheapest shop in Lowyat? Im quite lazy to walk around the whole plaza sweat.gif

i think you need to ask yourself for more....u plan go for gaming or else? if for gaming, safe your money for 8800GTS 512MB, and get dual-core.
if you do more graphic edit...video editing....go for qual-core and get 8800GT is enough...

Ermm based from the reviews i read,8800GT is the best value for money card atm. IIANM,it even beats the old GTS. ermm im not quite sure to be honest. I don't quite like the idea to spend big bucks on a top-end GC then having to upgrade a few months later so i'd much rather buy 'value for money' cards now and have the option to upgrade later without breaking my heart laugh.gif

So no,i don't think i'd swap the GT for GTS. What im contemplating now is dual core or quad core,4gb or 2gb,n the casing department sweat.gif

Here is how you can get 5.9 score in vista:

cpu: get intel quad core, E6750 only get 5.5 score
ram: get ddr2 800 performance ram (not those cheap value ram)
hdd: sata harddisk
gc: get geforce 8800, 8600GT gets 5.5 score

I am using asus p5k mobo currently, the mobo is quite good, but built-in sound not good, got background noise while playing mp3, after upgrade to x-fi, then the background noise gone.

i agree with joenjill partly. if your new pc is for gaming only, then base on current situation, it's not necessary to get quad core, since better cpu (faster core or more core) will only help reduce a bit loading time, and maybe minor help while gaming. so, get dual core instead of quad core.

if you also do rendering, video editing, do many zip (rar) files, then q6600 might be the best choice for you. smile.gif

anyway current intel quad is made of 2 dual core, which claim by amd it's not a real quad core cpu...

I'm sure you buy those thing to suit your need but not benchmark yeah? no? laugh.gif
so it doesn't matter whats the score you got from vista. it just give you a rough idea.

if u not a edifier, u won't notice any diff between them. but using soundcard, will ease the load of your cpu.
