QUOTE(clayclws @ Jan 19 2008, 01:40 PM) It may need the CF chip in the motherboard to actually function. I'm hoping that it does not. yeah .. hopefully it is not..cos if really need a CF board, ppl with CF board would just rather buy another 3870 n CF it instead...the CF chip requirement will kinda defeat the purpose of glue-ing two cards together as one... same thing should be said of 9800x2 as well...

QUOTE(nles @ Jan 24 2008, 06:15 PM) Why don't they have comparison with xfire HD3870. That something that most of us would like to us. Does Dual 3870 > xfire 3870. the official driver for 3870x2 is not here yet... till then we cant really judge on the performance compared with current xfire 3870 right? Added on January 24, 2008, 10:41 pmQUOTE(zeronehza @ Jan 24 2008, 10:06 PM) i think 3870x2 should be better than 3870 CF.. it's running on single slot x16... while CF does dual slot @ x8 rite.. the truth is... 3870x2 really pown the 8800ultra.. price & performance.. it will take both... well the x16,x8 or x4 depends on ur mobo right? AFAIK high end CF mobo have both slot @ pci-e x16 This post has been edited by tkh_1001: Jan 24 2008, 10:41 PM

QUOTE(butthead012 @ Jan 27 2008, 11:04 PM) Review: HD3870x2 vs 8800 ultra vs HD3870 crossfire http://it.enorth.com.cn/system/2008/01/26/002729321_07.shtmlNote: its in chinese. ENJOY~ in chinese again ..but anyways thanks dude for bringing all those reviews here... as for the reviews, again the result is not conclusive vs 8800 ultra... i find it very weird especially when the AA n AF is turned on in NFS:PS will cause a big drop in performance on 3870x2 but not 3870 CF ... driver issue? (i cant read chinese..so i wont noe if they mentioned it there )

QUOTE(onimusha333 @ Jan 30 2008, 12:28 AM) beware~ search this thread or the other rv680 thread for "captain obvious" QUOTE(clayclws @ Jan 30 2008, 01:20 AM) Haha~! Ok ok. You make your point. I play GW with lots of people from 4 season countries and most of them use heaters in their house, so they don't really think that winter would affect their cooling. Anyway, let's put this thing aside. That HD3870X2 is available in Lowyat. I can confirm that. Saw it and the price just blew me away. But it's really close to recommended retail price. Then again, one should only consider this after the release of better stock heatsinks or 3rd party ones from reputable manufacturers. u mean the price really low? if it is, then it will give 9800x2 a good fight...n the benefit shall go to us...
