At first I thought R680 and HD3870x2 isn't related but I wrong. Hope that single of these cards works on any motherboard, not just CrossFire motherboard

It's more on immature driver than CPU bottleneck. The card is still new, as does the driver. The gaming experience should improved as newer driver been released.
For the time being, just make sure you can tolerate problems, and running single GPU mostly fixed some problems |
