i just bought the monitor for 950
hmm...just my personal experience for sharing. I dun think resetting the PS3 to default factory setting and hoping it will detect whatever input we use is gonna work. I think it's because we use a 3rd party converter. for my case, i'm using a vga box aka av multi out convert to vga connector.when i go to settings --> display settings, what i can select is av output because i plug it to my tv..

at first when tried connecting my PS3 to my PC LCD, all i get is a blank screen showing a floating error message 'Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1440x900 60Hz'. Even after I've did the reset factory setting using the ON switch.
So what i did in the end, is that i connect it directly to my CRT TV without using any 3rd party converter. The CRT TV screen able to show what is being displayed out from the PS3. from there, i change the setting to match my LCD setting, which is AV Multi Out. When it come to a stage that ask what resolution that my output supports , it list out Standard (PAL) which is by default, follow by 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p.
If i select it to 720p, the screen will go blank. I knew i have to set it to 720p coz that's the resolution my LCD can support. (Note: my LCD is 1440x900, so max supported resolution is 720).
What i did is, i tried to memorize what is the next command after selecting the Standard PAL, so that I can still force select 720p as my "tv supported resolution" and agreed to it even when the screen is blank. (It should be select 720p, press X, screen goes blank, press left to point to the Yes and press X to agree, and press X to agree again, if im not mistaken)
After setting it such way, I bring back my PS3 to my room, connect it back to the VGA Box, and back to the LCD VGA Port - Walla! I can now play my PS3 using my PC LCD in the comfort of my own room. With the PS3 set to 720p resolution.
