yea i switch off and hold power button when red LED but still cant solve the problem..

when i go to settings --> display settings, what i can select is av output because i plug it to my tv..

i cant go to display settings using my monitor because there are no image at all appearing on my monitor screen.. it just complain about 'not optimum resolution'...

i just bought the monitor for 950  shakehead.gif

hmm...just my personal experience for sharing. I dun think resetting the PS3 to default factory setting and hoping it will detect whatever input we use is gonna work. I think it's because we use a 3rd party converter. for my case, i'm using a vga box aka av multi out convert to vga connector.

at first when tried connecting my PS3 to my PC LCD, all i get is a blank screen showing a floating error message 'Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1440x900 60Hz'. Even after I've did the reset factory setting using the ON switch.

So what i did in the end, is that i connect it directly to my CRT TV without using any 3rd party converter. The CRT TV screen able to show what is being displayed out from the PS3. from there, i change the setting to match my LCD setting, which is AV Multi Out. When it come to a stage that ask what resolution that my output supports , it list out Standard (PAL) which is by default, follow by 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p.

If i select it to 720p, the screen will go blank. I knew i have to set it to 720p coz that's the resolution my LCD can support. (Note: my LCD is 1440x900, so max supported resolution is 720).

What i did is, i tried to memorize what is the next command after selecting the Standard PAL, so that I can still force select 720p as my "tv supported resolution" and agreed to it even when the screen is blank. (It should be select 720p, press X, screen goes blank, press left to point to the Yes and press X to agree, and press X to agree again, if im not mistaken)

After setting it such way, I bring back my PS3 to my room, connect it back to the VGA Box, and back to the LCD VGA Port - Walla! I can now play my PS3 using my PC LCD in the comfort of my own room. With the PS3 set to 720p resolution.

i'm thinking of getting the new samsung LED monitor. just wanna confirm - can i connect both my PS3 via HDMI and my PC via DVI to the monitor at the same time?

if can, i'm assuming i should be able to change easily which input to display by clicking at the monitor menu/button?

thanks

not so much relevant to my question, as im not using or intending to use dvi-to-hdmi converter.

i'm expecting some one here that shares the same scenario as me to confirm my queries. One LCD monitor sharing with both the PS3 and PC.

most of the people seems to be either using a vgabox (which i find deteroriate the PC image) or a dedicated 32/40/50 inch LCD screen for the PS3 (which i dun have the budget to purchase one at the moment)

another thing is - currently im connecting the PS3 optical output directly to the Logitech speaker. if i'm connecting my PS3 to the LCD monitor via HDMI, would the sound still being output from the PS3 directly to the speaker or it will now be diverted to the HDMI cable? i.e. the optical cable would now need to be plug to the LCD monitor optical output instead.
