I've boycott Phillips now. I thought it's a good brand but it's not. All Phillips products that i've used have limited lifespan (All KO before or nearing 3 years). 2 CRT monitors KO less than 3 years. 2 CD Player KO in 3 years.  doh.gif

No more Phillips for me.

Maybe you can consider their lightbulbs though.  sweat.gif

Got myself an ASUS VK222 series.

RM1K.
- Built-in 1.3M pixel webcam
- 2ms GTG
- VGA
- DVI-D
- HDMI 1.1
- 5000 :1
- aV Audio Input & PC Audio Input... sound out (so its easy for me to use 1 speaker system for both my PC and PS3)
- nice colors (actually can tweak colors to your liking with your PC)

Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Yes, it's a good deal.  rclxms.gif
So how's the lcd performing with PS3? Mind to do a little bit review here?

I can't really say how great it looks but I can say for sure it looks great! *duh* doh.gif

So far, I've only been playing from a 25" and 29" CRT TV to a 32" LCD TV and now to this 22" LCD monitor, I can say, I'm lovin' it!
Not much difference from the 32" LCD TV in terms of graphics but since the 22" is slightly smaller, graphics are crisp and clear. I don't really have another 22" to compare this with so can't say for sure.

From what I see...
- No Ghosting (racing games, fighting games)
- Details in those dark areas I usually see on my normal TV are clearer now
- runs 1080p just fine
- 1.3Megapixel webcam seems fine
- downscales absolutely fantastic (playing PC games at 1024x768 still looks great)
- sound from LCD monitor a bit soft (I stay by a main road so it's pretty noisy)

Prolly due to my old 6800GT (AGP card)
- some 'noise' when watching AVI tv series or some DVD movies
- some 'weird funny lines' and abnormalities when playing NeverwinterNights 2 at 1680x1050

the Ugly Truth
- jaggies when watching some DVDs is a kind of put off
- no expert in tuning colors on PC sad.gif so I ter-tuned it a bit red-ish

It's plug into both my PC and PS3 so one button to switch between DVI to HDMI to VGA connection.

hmm... I haven't tried Blu Ray movies yet on a 22" screen... but I can tell that the normal DVD quality totally sucks on a 22" screen. the jaggies are killing me!!!

Thanks for your reply. How much would this cost? Over 1k?

edited: Oops sorry guys, guess I shouldn't ask about audio thingy in this thread.

I got my Sony HTS that came with a Sony DVD Player for about RM1k+ a few years ago.
I'm not much of an audiophile so I can't really provide good advice on getting a system.
Try checking if those Hi-Fi or sound system comes with Optical input or not?

speaking of which... tonight I will try and see if the webcam attached on the LCD monitor can be used on the PS3 or not... has anyone tried using their built-in webcams on the PS3 before?

Hmmm....I just dont understand, why you guys all bought LCD which are 22" or lower....

I have been playing it with last year 32" and now 37"....heheheh
I might go for 42" next year (depend on the price). I m using local brand, the quality is good. price wise.....if there is anyone using local brand, whats ur feedback?

3 people has already answered you... rolleyes.gif

Clearly, I really don't see the big deal between a 22" LCD monitor and 32" or 37" LCD TV.
In fact, I find that the 22 (definitely the 24") LCD monitor would perform better than your 32" or 37" LCD TV.

Here are some reasons why people rather use the 22" LCD monitor:
- cheaper (RM1k vs RM2k)
- better resolution (1680x1050 vs your 1368x768)
- sharper text on screen when using PC
- better refresh rates (2ms vs 8ms)
- everything (console, PC, HTS) is fitted into our small bedroom
- great multi-tasking display (using Windows on a LCD TV sucks.. for me)

If you really wanna compare quality, get a Full HD 50" HDTV and compare. That's where you get quality. thumbup.gif

I bought ASUS VK222H 22" monitor at Sunway Pyramid ..
I am using it for my xbox360(VGA) & ps3 (HDMI) ..although have to have two seperate speakers...
Bought it after seeing taikor Azxel' post . Also cause I know that a good LCD TV is out of my reach
Furthermore i put it in my room..

Picture is nice..although i have problem getting proper brightness for Bad company Battlefield..
I wish ASUS have the manual / controller to help out in configuring the picture.

Strongest recommendation for anyone who is on budget and wanted to experience
HD gaming....

I bet you didnt read the manual!!! tongue.gif

what do you use?

At first, like yourself I was fiddling with the brightness, contrast, color and config using an nVidia tool. The new drivers come with this tool where I can tweak the settings rather well.

Then I read the manual a bit... there's the Splendid mode button (2nd button from left I think) for quick settings on the monitor itself.
It's preset to 4 Modes... Theatre, Game, Scenery, Night View and Normal.

I find Game Mode is brighter.

it scales up and down proportionally one ma, no? if not your picture will be distorted.

hi, why dun u go for bigger resolution? i would highly recommend the dell SP2208WFP. it supports hdmi and it's a marvelous monitor..im using my ps3 on it now smile.gif

yea, I agree... got for at least a 22"
at least no need to find sellers to buy your 'obsolete' 19" a few years down the road and 'rugi' and somehow you'll not really be satisfied playing the PS3 on a 19". 22" is still ok...
