Hi there!

I bought a Samsung FullHD 24" LCD monitor for my PS3 gaming sessions. Actually just bought it yday evening. Reached home, unboxed, tidy some stuff, did some cable management till late at night...

My question is: Anyone out there that knows how to fine tune the colour setting for the LCD monitor for PS3 gaming. Colour maximasation is what I seek for.

Feedbacks are most welcome...
Thanks. Joey.

p.s: Mind yu that the above mentioned LCD monitor is a "computer monitor" not a "tv" monitor.

I saw a LG 32" FullHD model in Legend a week back.
Model no was LG32**57 or something like tat...
Looked pretty promising mainly cos d price was below 2K

Any comments anyone?

Morning there!

The model yu were referring to is a TV LCD? FullHD? Below RM2K? Sounds really tempting! Bought a PC LCD monitor ady. Now been surveying for a TV LCD FullHD. I'm more into design and specs initially where price is secondary before buying.

Thanks for sharing! Joey.

p.s: Maybe I browse around on the said model LCD. Hmmm....

Hi there!

I'm guessing yu intend to buy the Samsung T240 24" FullHD LCD monitor? I bought it couple of weeks back. Been hooking it up with my PS3 only. Gaming sessions only. And for those that didnt know bout this LCD model, basically its a PC LCD monitor.

Anyway, no regrets buying it. It has no speakers attached with it but I would recommend Altec Lancing as yr sound system. Notch the volume a bit and yu will experience MGS4 warzone has never been that realistic before!

Anyway, it's not "really that bright but I reckon yu can play with the setting with the LCD settings and yr PS3 settings. I'm also experimenting....anyway, it doesn't come with a HDMI cable. So yu need to buy instead.

Yu won't regret it. I bought it for RM1200. (includes: Samsung T240, HDMI cable (for LCD and PS3) splitter, some cables (for my Altec Lancing sound system connection)

Regards, Joey.

p.s: No worries. Every time I switch it on, yu experience immense exhilaration of FullHD wonders. Buy one and knock yrself out, "snowdog20202020". Have a good day~~~

dont let the resolution gets to u, most ps3 games i say 80% or more doesn't run at 1080p or FULLHD, resident evil, killzone, gta, even deadspace runs on 720p natively only....

so having FULLHD only truely comes in benifits if ur media u are using is natively runs at 1080p/Fullhd, and u sit quite close to ur panel.
*
Morning!

Hmmm...so far MGS4 is running at 1080p. The rest are on 720p... But I can't help it with the questioning of, it seems not that much of a difference on the graphical dept. Maybe some technical guy can highlight this matter....anyone?

Regards, Joey~~~

i runs mgs4 on 1080p, tested 720p it does have much different unlike pc games... nope, looks ta same to me only, just tat if ur panel is native 1080p, then best set tat setting, if its 1080i, then using 720p looks better for mgs4
*
Hmmm...intriguing indeed.

Anyway, Since my LCD monitor can support 1080p display, then I'll just leave it that way for MGS4, right? No point of "scaling down the resolution". (I would like to apologise foremost coz sometimes I uses layman's terms/wrong terms to describe some "points"). I'm basically not a technical inclined person. Sorry bout that.

The question is: Since other games are running at 720p, should I change the settings on the PS3 to accommodate it or I'll just leave it at 1080p and let the "internal" system to "auto-self adjust". Speaking of lingos...really need to learn more bout FullHD and the settings involved.

Hmmm...anyways, ever since working, there's less time for me to play games. Let alone to learn all the settings and getting information regarding PS3 system, games reviews and latest news and happenings as well as LCD settings. The information are there for us to seek but sometimes we lack of time to obtain it. I believe there's a bunch of us who are facing this issue, especially those who are working.

Anyone who would like to share their experience and knowledge regarding this matter? Joey~~~

Forgot to add....

Hi there!

32" Sharp LCD TV? Izit from the Aquos range? Been browsing through Net for information regarding Sharp LCD TV especially those from Aquos range. Seems alot of positive feedbacks also. Care to tell the price yu bought it?

But so far, what really caught my attention is : Samsung, LG and Sharp LCD TV. I'm looking for either 32" 0r 40" for the LCD TV. But most likely to settle down with a 32"...

Huh? Samsung T240HD for $299.99??!! I got mine for RM1100! It has "built in speakers"? Yu sure bout this, mate? Or yu meant by yu got a separate speakers? Hihihi.

I'm satisfy with the buy actually. No regrets. Design is simply breathtaking! Especially when yu are back revisiting Shadow Moses Island.

Yes you can. Mine is using a Samsung LCD monitor too.

Here's a quickie. Next month I'll be changing my Altec Lansing speakers. I was thinking of using Optical cable from my PS3 system to the speakers. Both my Console, LCD monitor and the speaker has optical output. Would I able to hook the things up by using optical? I'm trying to ditch the Yellow, White, Red cable (AV cable).

How about the quality of the sound? Better than using the typical AV cable?

Regards, Joey

p.s: Anyone has similar setting as mine? Would appreciate it if you are willing to share some information. Oh bummer! I'm getting an Altec Lansing MX5021. Is it any good? Advice is welcome. Thanks.

It's very simple. Nowadays, you don't have to worry much about inputs and outputs of a certain hardware, in this case, LCD TV per se.

If there's multiple HDMI outputs/inputs, it'll make things easier, right? If you are taking it into account that if there's no HDMI outputs/inputs, therefore there are sure some AV outputs/inputs on the LCD TV.

If you are talking about optical for audio (which I'm having my problems now) then it would be a different issue. This will take into the account of plugging external speakers as your main audio experience. (TV produces lame sound experience)

1. Check if there's HDMI port on your LCD TV. (at least one)
2. If you are using external speakers then you have to consider what port you needed to plug it: either from PS3 system to speakers or from LCD TV to speakers.

I'm not an expert in all these hardwares set up but I know a good system needs to be configured the best possible way.

Regards, Joey

p.s: All of us wants the best possible performance per hardware that we have.

His case is very much critical. An excerpt from About.com.

There is no firmware upgrade that can turn a non-HDCP input into a HDCP compliant input. If you bought a HDTV a few years ago then there is a great chance that you will get a HDCP error when connecting a Blu-ray Disc Player to your HDTV with HDMI. This would force you into either using a non-digital cable, buying a new HDTV or getting rid of the Blu-ray Disc Player.

Joey, I've looked through your ALTEC LANSING speaker specifications, it cannot support optical input thus there won't be digital sound (AC3/DTS).
*
It lacks optical support. Sigh~~~~THX certified and yet there's no optical support. What were they thinking when they built the speakers. But of course it will sounds better than my current ATP3, right? Decision, decision~~~

p.s: Thanks "Thrust" for providing me the information.

Hey guys,

Getting a Samsung monitor for my ps3. Preferably around 24" with hdmi port and below RM1000.

Currently only have 2494HS as an option. Should I go ahead and buy that or is there other better ones? I heard of the XL2370 also, but most probably beyond my budget.

Thanks!
*
Do you want my Samsung FullHD T240? It's a 24" LCD monitor from Samsung. Everything is there. From the box, the plastic bags, the receipts (sales invoices), the LCD it self, everything is intact. No dead pixel or distortions or whatsoever defect since I bought it early this year. Bought it about RM1200 at that time~~~now letting off at RM880. (Warranty is still applicable).

Thought of getting a LED monitor~~~well, I'm just pressing my luck here. If there's any potential buyer, feel free to PM me. I'm going to ask a colleague of mine if he wants it. He's quite keen on it. Anyway, it is up for grabs for now.

Regards, Joey

Houston, we've had a problem!

Anyone care to enlighten me with this: Is it a good buy for Samsung FullHD 40" LCD TV (LA40B550) at RM2999? I'm getting it this weekend. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Already paid for the LCD TV yesterday night. Waiting for Saturday night for delivery to my home. Really excited about it! The only reasons that caught my attention are the Full HD feature and the crystal glass design. Same goes to my Samsung T240 FullHD LCD monitor.

Regards, Joey

p.s: The waiting is seriously excruciating painful. Almost got myself an LED TV instead but the price is, errmmmm...pricey?

Hello all lowyat member, please share your opinion with me.

I'm considering to buy LCD TV to replace my monitor for PS3.

i'm considering between these

1. Sony 40" EX5 rm4999
2. Sony 40" EX4 rm3799
3. Sony 40" BX4/3 rm3299

All full HD & BE 3 engine.
I need good performance LCD tv for PS3 including the output sound.

Is the motionflow 100HZ found on Ex5 series really worth the money?
Which model give the best sound output?

If i were to consider samsung, which model should i buy for great sound output and performance?
*
For sound, it would be nice if you can chip in some money to buy some external speakers. RM150 to RM200 will do just fine for a pair of Altec Lansing. but if you are looking to splurge, the higher ends will savour your needs. Honestly, those built-in speakers are just ermmmm~~~wouldn't make it.

I see. I have creative megawork THX 5.1. but the thing is, my speaker only have 1 AUX input. not sure if it supported optical input or just 1/8" jack.

I saw some LCD TV comes with Surround HD. i wonder about its performance. Anyone would like to share?
*
I would drop the notion of how well the speakers works from the LCD TV. You can always connect your Creative Megawork THX 5.1 with the LCD TV. I'm sure there's more than enough for you to choose to connect both gadgets.
