OH CRAP!!! put to note...
The front skirts on Unicorn also needs to be reconfigured. check dalong for the pics. apparently, to allow the crotch armour to transform, the side skirts are linked to the main waist area. which means...mobility is further hindered...sigh...the legs would probably never go above 45 degrees. which means the kneeling pose is not possible...

WOW!!You gotta tell me where you got that YF-19!!!

On a side note, I am still gonna get Unicorn and I will make it my goal to Improve the articulation!!! I have materials, tools tho i lack in the experience department...anyways, will plaplates survive constant rotation or movement? How long does it take for the cement to truly cure? I need to joint to be as rigid as possible.

Day 1) Unicorn in-the-making: MODDING THE PAIN IN THE A$$ KNEE JOINT

As the title suggest, This knee modding is indeed a pain in the a$$. Throught trial and error i almost ruin the whole damn knee! Luckily, It is still savable. icon_rolleyes.gif Anyways, I won't dive into the details of what i modded. I'll leave that to when the whole kit is finished. Main thing is, I DID IT!!!!YATTA!!!
Before modding, knee bends about 75-80 degrees.
After modding, knee bends 180 degrees!! rclxm9.gif
After placing on the armour parts, knee bends 120-130 degrees doh.gif

(Mind you, I DID mod the armour without sacrificing looks. And this is my second time trying to mod anything. So i still lack experience...) I would post pic's, but my trusty phone's battery is dead. So, maybe l8r if anyone's intrested. That is all for today! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!HOHOHO!!

Mind you, After placing on the armour, The leg can only bend about 120-130 degrees. In the normal mode, It Bends about 90 degrees. Destroy mode, It bends 120-130 degrees. Thats the maximum limit unless you wanna strip off the rear end armour.

Heres the pic

Since I am waiting for the cement to dry out, This is the only mode I can show you guys.

Here's a pic of the mods I made.

as you guys can c, I replaced the tubes which obviously hindered movement of the upper thigh. then came the problem of the lower armour which dosen't permit further movement as it gets stuck with the thigh armour. I had to remove a portion of the lower armour based on the groves which i then widened using the cylindrical plaplates. Had to drill some holes here and there to enable the separated armour parts to link back to the main body. As what I am describling is most likely hard to imagine, the pic will explain everything else. That is all for now. gotta work on the second knee. I may post a pic l8r with the armour parts off.

whoa...now thats something alright...different way, and looks much more complex. I think I am satisfied with mine...for my level of experience anyway...

WAH... very advanced level of modding... I cannot do it hehe... Then again it looks real ugly when the knee is flexed all the way back as the knee armour protrudes too far outwards.

Girls and boys, LET THERE BE LIGHT.

WOW!!!!YOU DID THAT?!!!COOL!!!!I lack enuff LED's to replicate that!!!Cool work dude!!!

Oh, and here's the pic where the knee bends 180 degrees.

Of course not mine ler hehe... just curi from hkml.net

Good job with the knees... Now waiting for your modded calf armour pics thumbup.gif
By the way, is the joint strength affected?
*
Haha, well, I thought I already shown you guys the pic with the armour on. It was on the 22 page if i am not wrong. And The only parts that I have modified are already shown there. Look closely at the side armour. Near the part where the knee joint is, the armour that was obstructing movement was removed and widened. Take a close look...I left the middle transforming thruster part alone as I am unable to come up with an Idea on how to modify that without sacrificing the looks of this part. Oh, for mine, my unicron's lower right leg joint is a little loose due to the fact that i was trying a different mod and ended up screwing up the pieces... sweat.gif Otherwise, this modification does not affect joint strength whatsoever.

And the wire i used was just a simple white cable. not wire mesh. couldn't find that so i had to improvise. So i doubt that painting or anything will ruin it. besides, i kinda like it white...haha!

Ok, Unicorn completed today. Still have to complete the weapons, paint some extra details, place on decals and lining before school reopens. hmm...that should be it. Well, have to get to TM to get an extra can of topcoat! Here are a few pic's of my progress so far.

Ok. Unicorn...95% completion. If everything goes well, I should be able to wrap things up by tuesday. Today manage to detail up some parts with paint. The weapons and the internal thruster parts. Boy are they hard to mask. Running low on topcoat, so I guess i'll have to get to TM tomorrow. Anyways, regarding my earlier question regarding mark softer, If i just apply it to the regular red warning stickers, will there be any effect? Any whatsoever?

Placing decals on unicorn is a NIGHTMARE!!!! I think I take back my word earlier where I said i wished all the decals were the dry transfer kind. Water slide decals would be an even bigger pain...There is just sooooo many decals to put on this thing. I don't thing SF even had a quarter of the decals that unicorn has. Man...this is gonna take a looooonng time.

Oh, 3 hours and 45 minutes left till the new year. A year sure zips by fast.

me also dont understand coz its written in chinese..
but by looking at the pics, got 2 conclusion but thats just me lar...
its either he mod the knee joint or the back armor slide...
but, so far, it seems he mod the knee joint so that the back armor doesnt obstruct the thigh armor...

can anyone explain the mod pls..
*
Well, after looking at that pic closely. He did, in fact mod the rear armour along with the side armour thats obstructing movement. hmm...yup. He sliced off the sides and sticked them to the rear armour. He did slice off quite alot tho...
