Hi all, goin to get my City Vtec next month... And i heard that the sound system of the car sucks... Need u guys to recommend wat i should get and wat budget should i have to get a middle range audio set... Sorry for being a noob... Hope to get as much advice as possible...

For example,
What to change or add???
What brand???
What is important for a good sound system???
What is the budget???

Opps... I think my budget is around 1000-2000...

get a decent pair of component set + a 2 channel amp for the start with this budget...

later on then add in sub if u dun plan to change the HU

I have a City Vtec. The sound system seems okay to me .
Probably want to find something to add the bass, but the overall sound is not bad .

Change your component 1st....get a decent component such as DynAudio, Focal or Vifa...upgrade it step by step.

bro emperor: i think the new city comes with integrated HU dy, unlike the previous model. So changing it might be abit hard/ expensive wait till ur car comes first, then u hear the sound. If ok ma no need change.

The stock audio for City really not bad. But just not bad only.
After you listen to those car that got play ICE, sure you wanna change.
I also plan to upgrade my City ICE. Currently is the stock Kenwood HU.
Plan for 4 channel amp + component speaker > subwoofer > HU.

Just wanna know if the front door can fit 6.5" component? I have a city VTEC 2004 and wish to upgrade the sound system also. Currently thinking of Pioneer 6950 + Component (Alpine Type-S any good?). Will add a subwoofer later on w/amp also, only listens to alternative, soft rock and pop. Any suggestions?

i will not touch a brand new car electronics because it will void the car warranty

for city ride, the first thing u need to change is the tak boleh pakai HU......the stock HU is suckss.....the comps & other still okie performing....if u change all your comps....& play ur city stock HU....give me 2second, i will go down from the car....i experience in my friends city ride which he change to brand ADS comps & amps....& with stock HU....really wasted the entire system.....

im not sure city got how many type...i think is the kenwood type..is grey type......my frens city is abt 2 years....i had audited 1 all stock & 1 change comps & amps....still the same outcome...is the HU problem....

hav you done a blind folded test? between a city with a stock HU and a city with a aftermarket high end HU?

try tht and see if it really make a huge difference... if you couldnt hear the difference then money is playing a fool out of you...

if u wan cheap cheap ah.. get tweeter n put a sub loh, n equalizer loh.

if ada budjet change whole set loh.

well afaik... honda came up with some of the best stock standard SQ... but dun go on comparing with those OEM levinson... those are different league altogether...

so to me... only changing the HU doesnt make a really really huge difference...

do a blindfold test if you guys have time... i always play tht with my friends... it helps a lot to see that money always fool you...

Play more with a good amp, component speakers, subwofer, etc,...

no matter how ppl argue, ice is still a very subjective thing. so TS, wait til your car comes, and listen. if its ok for u, then be it tat way, save up your money. but if you feel itchy, try find someone wif city and aftermarket ice, and i can pretty sure guarantee u'l get poisoned. sadly, its not a good thing actually.

anyway, mayb for starting, get a 4-channel amp with a decent comp set. for less than Rm2k, u can really hook up a decent setup if the shop is good in tuning for your taste. and after awhile and u feel u need more, than opt for a monoblock wif subs. i guess that's enough for u.

and don need to ask for anythin else, i guarantee tat u will kno more sooner or later. for the moment, these r enough di.

Ori HU EQ can be use but can't give a best performance.
But not to use few band eq with cap ayam brand....If really want go to performance EQ, you can go for 15bands or higher 30 band..

my city vtec is expected to arrive this month also... i am hving headache because dunno how to replace the integrated HU...guess i'll just have to wait for someone to create the after market replacement for 1-DIN HU panel...

at the mean time, if you wanna change the HU only...in my opinion it won't make much difference cause the sound limitation is most probably coming from the speaker...

so for a RM2k budget... so happen my friend recently install his system, i can recommend a pertors component set costing around RM850 and then you can get a clarity amp, 4ch, for around RM650... the balance u can still use for sub so you will have a decent basic setup consist of comp set + sub + 4ch amp...

The HU is not integrated la, can be changed easily as what i have done. The default player is damn lousy, change it 100% can get better sound. I am currently waiting for my Pioneer 6950IB from howiechoo to take over my beloved 3 years old Pioneer 4550

I found out tht u can change the integrated system from Honda... just ask ur SA...

can.. vtec intergrated only ma.. mine idsl comes with kenwood.

don worry so much, juz wait for your car to come and c whether the hu is integrated or not. but if i were u, with budget of around 2k or 2.5k, i wont go for hu tat fast lor.

a decent picasso comp + lil wonder 4-way comp + monobloc + MTX sub.

actually, if u kno an audio shop well, u can also tell the boss your budget is 2k, and tell him u wan a good system within tat budget, exclude hu. of coz, tat shop should be reputable, don simply find 1 and let them chop u. test the audited system for a week, and if not satisfied, go back and tell them to change another again.

Here's my ICE history done to my Honda Jazz.

1. Change HU - Gain like 30% more power + clarity
2. Add component speakers - Gain another 50% of sound quality
3. Sound proof 4 doors -Eliminate external noise, Gain better bass and clarity by 30%
4. Add Rear 2 way speakers - well, just to replace the crappy original mids by honda, now my back passenger also can rock like me
5. Amp - Finally added a 2-way amp to my component, did face and sound stage tuning. sound is clear, warm vocal, satisfying bass.

now i'm satisfy, atleast the setup will last me for 2-3 years. o btw, no subs yet as i think the current bass is right to my ears, anymore thumping bass will spoil my listening pleasure.

$$ spent < then 5k.

If I change the HU and speakers, will the Warranty be voided?

Cos my current perdana v6 has 100% Alpine System that cost me around 6K the last time I did it and I love the sound and don't want to sell the car with it. I am selling the car but not with the system.
