i dont know u guys had seen my earlier thread in tech;
just to share, i have check up with the starhub singapore mobile service like digi in malaysia la,
they have this mobile broadband service at 70sgd permonth and their speed are 8mbps, and upload is 4mbps.
then i think no wonder during peak hours of the trading, i cant log in to few substandard securities like, zecco.com, sogotrade.com, mbtrading.com.
anyway i did complain this matter to them,
so got one day when i am working overtime in my office, i noted this 3 securities can be log in easily, then i check my office are corperate package at 600-800 rm permonth.
i am using 1mb maximum rm110 combo package, but i cant even log in my sogotrade account at moment.

best in town;
etrade.com
optioxpress.com
ameritrade.com (slow but hardly fail)

Hi, Norman,

Just want to understand the impact of internet speed on the trading performance.

1) Are you based in Sg or Msia? you mentioned StarHub as well as Streamyx Combo?

2) You mean even with Starhub's 8mbps DL speed is not sufficient to support zecco.com, sogotrade.com, mbtrading.com???

3) you mean, using 1mb-rm110-combo-package, you can log on to etrade.com, optioxpress.com, ameritrade.com (slow but hardly fail)????

I do notice that, both etrade and optionexpress have an office in Sg, maybe they have a server around here, that make a difference.

thanks for sharing.

to sunshine:
how to trade hkse:
i have 3 account just trading hkse:
first account 1999 have to fly to hk,--> hsbc, open bank account with trading platform linkage.

2nd account 2006; osk188.hk

3rd account2009: public bank provide hkse trading platform

good luck
Just need to clarify:

(2) yours OSK, is OSK Hong Kong, not OSK Msia right? We can open OSK HK without being physically there? r u required to have OSK Msia acct as well?

(3) similarly, yours Public Bank, is Public Bank Hong Kong or Msia? can open account remotely? r u required to have Public Bank Msia as well?

I found Hong Leong 's HK counterpart , Guoco Capital, they MIGHT accept foreign investor..............

Which option is the best in your opinion, 1,2,3 ?

if your options (2) & (3) are in fact Msia based, then why not invest through your (1) only, I presume HSBC is efficient, reliable, though not the cheapest........

Bottom from my heart: BIG THANK to you, normanTE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

I'd like to invest in British Petroleum and some other UK stocks. Two ways to do it, invest directly in LSE or invest in ADS/ADR in the US OTC share market.

Well, I suppose it is easier and cheaper to invest via US broker as their online computer program is good and the brokerage is much lower. What concerns me is the ADS or ADR. any foreign exchange risk or illiquid risk or trouble associated with ADS or ADR? any "SIFU" here have personal experience with ADS and OTC market????

Cheers, rolleyes.gif

normanTe,

Good Point, focus on the theme of Insurance Industry.
Have researched some insurance companies, quite difficult to pick one with reliable basis at this critical moment in time......... at most , we may choose the "best out of the worst"............still working on this....

Danmooncake,

at least you had a winning trade before!!! rclxms.gif
Move on!!! Keep searching for another good company!!!!!!!

Which ISP or Broadband provider are you guys using to buy US stocks???

I couldn’t access to most of the US websites last night, so didn’t even mention about trading! My goodness!!! It wasn’t a question of speed, the company’s Homepage never appeared! mad.gif

Which ISP provides better accessibility to US websites and more reliable? Digi Broadband? P1? Streamyx? Which package?

Currently, I am using Streamyx 512k. Often, I cannot access to US websites even in the morning during office working hour, i.e. 9am-5pm. very disappointing. doh.gif

thanks. smile.gif biggrin.gif

No problem with etrade, scottrade, ameritrade or mbtrading (as recommended by normante), most of time I use VPN too (with US IPs).

Danmooncake,

Do we seriously need to implement VPN in order to trade online and interactively with US brokers?? I thought VPN is meant for those Big Downloaders on movie files????? rclxub.gif

Your VPN services is chargeable? I know nothing about VPN, though can learn from internet.

thks

Wow!! connecting First Trade with Celcom BB 384kbps!!! I am surprised. Thanks for ur info.
It's my mistake to underestimate Celcom as I mistaken both Celcom and TM share the same Internet Gateway.

Do you trade after midnight 12.00am???

Streamyx is really sucks!! Day or night, it is so difficult to access China websites and Northern Europe sites.......
