It took me 2 days to finish this 931 posts. sweat.gif

DJIA currently still floating in consolidation with gap-up at opens. IMHO, DJIA and S&P reached middle of this cycle, so small winnie the pooh should come for a visit next week. brows.gif

I would hope a big Grizzly would come.. not some tiny pooh.

Place your bets.. what you want to buy?  drool.gif

I'm holding mid-term, looking for good fundamental counters only. But maybe one can put his/her eyes on AIB or IRE. It up too fast already, NAMA's plan can't "sustain" current price if DJIA, S&P, as well as Nasdaq meteors come -- SHORT it! haha..

This analyst says GE is overvalued:

Short it if you dare.  tongue.gif

agreed smile.gif .IMHO, one cannot just simply shorts when it is overvalued, not everyone want it down. Moreover, GE is considered as Economic Moat + got paying out divy (yesterday). So, I don't think the price will be lower in short period (if down also not much). I don't simply believe in analysts' view, cause they are human, as they would predict wrongly too.

back to "overvalued" term, GOOGLE is overvalued all the time, who want to short it? brows.gif for me, acts like this can metaphor as finding path-of-death only. smile.gif

Analyst talking what ever language that one cannot simply decipher.  Earlier this week, Analyst made a BUY Call. Now other analyst says over valued.
No, google is not overvalued. So does Apple.

Don't believe? why not short them now? Google heading toward $700 and AAPL towards $200.

Perhaps overvalued are FNM/FRE?
*
for me, I define "overvalued" as Total Equity < Market Capital, even the company is making profit. I'm rather investing (for mid-term) than trading in US stock market, aiming for both capital gain and dividend. I'm not prepared for trading yet. Must learn from sifus here. notworthy.gif

FNM/FRE are both zombies, got NEGATIVE in total equity in previous quarters report. It worth nothing. sweat.gif

Anyone can let me know is there any local bank providing cross-border trading? How much they charge?

Sometimes I will think that using US trading account is not cheap either?

Kindly advise.

Rate for OSK:

25USD (min) or 0.3% + 40MYR (min) or 0.6% per trade (US)

quite expensive, but with larger capital and with investing-minded should be ok if invest in high undervalued company.

compared to firstrade - USD 6.95, I think it is quite expensive.
But thinking of the time taken, commission charged, safetly wise, if you do not trade a lot (long term investment), OSK still worth it.
I heard that minimum for HLB is USD 20. But they don't have interface, need to call.
U use OSK service?
*
Yes, I'm using OSK for buying stocks in US. But need to tell remisier to allocate the fund for foreign trading first before buying stocks, cause usually they allocate $$ deposited for trading in local market only. I'm not sure about HLB's rate..

actually if want invest in US stock, then cannot be hold stock on short terms like daily basis
profit will be eaten away from costly commision and etc
honesty, i dont interested invest in foreign market
because local market still have opportunity to profit
it depend on he/she able spot this opportunity
*
I agree with you that commission is high for certain brokers. IMO, opportunity to profit is everywhere, for both local and foreign markets, problem is that, whether one can spot the opportunity or not. smile.gif SamGoss got part of the idea.

The question is:

For US, UK and Australia, do we need to be charged local brokerage and foreign brokerage?

E.g.

RM 40 (local brokerage) + USD 20 (foreign brokerage) + stamp fees?

Too expensive.
*
yes, pay both sides. I'm not trading for foreign stocks, so not over concern on this (but I did feel "pain" sad.gif ). Maybe will open an US trading account in future, such as sogotrade, firsttrade, or etrade, etc. smile.gif

I don't care about exchange rate.

To me RM1 = 1USD.

Because you have already hedge it, as your capital is in USD, which is converted earlier. smile.gif

high volatility in US markets, so chances of losing also quite highrolleyes.gif
*
High volatility affects only the rate of price change. For those who with capital less than usd 25k, please never think of trading in US markets, unless you are already an expert. If not, chance for you to lose $$ is very high. For investors, please look for undervalued companies, do some "homework" on their financial statements and figure out their management. Companies with good fundamentals will reward you nice dividend and good capital gain in the future. It just a matter of time. If you are knowledgeable in trading, that's another story.

Happy investing and trading. smile.gif

This is the utterly no basis. How the heck you come out with the basis of 25K?
Some of LYN member have less than 3K and making GOOD return.
The best method in US market is to use TRAILING STOP. Enough said.
*
sorry for the incomplete info, i should write it as "adviced". tongue.gif 25k is for pattern daytrading PDT accounts, such as in mbtrading, specially for day-traders. IMO, 3k is enough as capital to trade, only with LOW commission, such as US brokers mentioned in previous posts. with larger capital, traders could split their trades into few counters/ industry or different ETF (diversify risk), and as "extra bullet" when want to averaging down certain positions.

p/s: zaman98 is an expert in trading. should learn from him. notworthy.gif biggrin.gif

i heard you have direct CDS account with HLebroking.
But I asked my remisier and he said HLebroking only has nominee account.
or you need to go to HL investment bank?
*
No, I'm with OSK. smile.gif

Btw, if I'm not mistaken, buying foreign shares through OSK (and some other local brokers) are considered under custodian (or called nominee?) account, and for local shares it is under CDS (normal) account. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
