I have just known that Sogotrade does not allow check withdrawal for non-US citizen, you can only use wire transfer which costs USD50 once.

So if you want to play with Sogotrade, your fund must stay longer..
*
Or else try get yourself an US-bank account. You can do ACH transfer for free between broker & bank account.

Where to open US-Bank account in MY? HK bank can open US-bank account if you are their premium customer. (MIN 200k deposit).
*
Read this post on how to open, BTW I have not try it. The post owner said he made it.

I open myself while visiting US last June not through this method

I m thinking to open one also. Thanks for your info. Seems like not so difficult to open a US bank account from here but need some leg walk.

How about if I ask some relative to mail the form to me here and submit back to them via mail to open an acc? And using my relative US address? Is this possible without going to US?
*
I do not know, maybe you give it a try, because some bank may insist you need to be present at USA to open an account.

Btw, even we open the US account, transfer money from and to them also will incurs charges. Eg, USD 20 for wired transfer from US bank to Malaysia bank. Any others cheaper option?

As for HSBC, I understand no charges required if you transfer between own local and own US account. (Premium customer).
*
Do you heard about Citibank Global Transfer? You can transfer between Citibank account worldwide with on USD10 charge & the money credited instantly. No charge on receiving end. Unfortunately, Citibank Malaysia are yet to implement this feature. Citibank SG already have this feature.

The great thing about this feature is you do not need to be their Citigold member. Citigold member will get free transfer.

I should open an account when I was in US for a few months.
But one thing is: can we get free transfer from local to US bank? e.g. Citibank malaysia to Citibank US and back.?
*
If you have a chance better open it but choose the account that is easy to maintain. Many people looking after to open an account but no chance. You can use for other purpose as well.
No free transfer unless you are Citigold customer.

QUOTE(mynewuser @ Sep 28 2009, 10:19 PM)
For this case, it better just open sogotrade account and wired transfer the money direct to them and from them. The charge a bit expensive.

No need to waste time to transfer from sogotrade to us-bank and then transfer to malaysia.
*
Yes that is right but if you have us-bank acc you will have more flexibility for example you want to change broker or you only want to make small monthly withdrawal from your profit.

I think citibank in Malaysia still dont have this service yet. Few month ago I ask the relationship manager regarding opening a US bank account and she still blur blur and ask me to open US currency account  sad.gif . But they can help you to open account in Singapore thru Malaysia branch. Global transfer between US and Malaysia account work for HSBC and is free.
Yes Citibank Global Transfer still not available in Malaysia. You have citigold acc with them right & also HSBC premier acc?

Placing order to buy 110 C today @ 4.72.
Will it be too high? I think it will still have rooms.

Replacing order to buy 110 @ 4.65

Added on October 1, 2009, 8:53 pm

oh no.. the price roses to 4.80 already..
seems like have to make the order when the market open..
*
If want to buy now, maybe I suggest you to buy small position. From yesterday chart, price spike during the last few minutes before market close. It may go down but I could be wrong.

Anyway I gonna throw mine if price >4.80

If I buy stocks in US, how do I hedge against the drop of USD against MYR ar?
*
I don't know how to hedge against RM. But you could hedge easily against other currency easily through forex platform for example SGD, Euro or AUD. The advantage is due to its leverage. For example to hedge, USD10,000 you only need USD25 for 400:1 leverage + some additional money to cater for currency fluctuation.

Great price. I manage to buy at 4.35 that day but sold off already. Not too patient to wait. Looking for a dip to enter again.

applying for zecco.....anyone using it currently? Any comments?
*
My zecco account was approve yesterday although I am applying the about same day as SOGOTRADE at the end of August. Just look around a bit last night. My initial impression is that SOGOTRADE is much much better. I could find where is their realtime price. What I can see is only snapshot about the particular stock. If you need realtime price have to subscribe for Quotestream II ($20 per month) or Quote Grid($8 per month) which they will give you a software to view.

On top of that brokerage fee for SOGO is cheaper.

Any one know what ID/passport to be fill?
*
yup you got it other way around. I don not see, where to write swift code/ABA routing no & additional section that say to further credit to sogotrade acc no.

I think you refer to transfer of stock from one broker to another broker. But If I sell off all my sogo stock and perform the money transfer from sogo to ft. (Ft also US account). Do they still charge?

sogo can perform ACH transfer to another US account for free.
*
I think almost all brokers can do free ACH transfer.
