Not exactly the right place but just wondering, any of you guys have experienced with any of the free websites around on the net? I've only look at phpbb free and invison plus. How are the others and are they reliable or stable? And do they do backup of the forums for free or is there a fee?
A lot of choices when I did a Google search that my head hurt.

Proboards.com Free, easy to use. The downside is you need to memorise the long URL, like: <yourforumname>.proboardsXXX.com But you will get used to it

Every free forum has its drawback - their service can be good one day and sucky the next - FREE MAH Take our old forums for example - it was hosted on jconserv.net. When we started using it in Dec 06, it was fantastic, uptime was good, you could backup the phpbb forums (although they didnt support some addons). Fast forward to Oct 07, uptime was lousy, backup of the forums was non functional. We asked around the guild and were lucky enough to have two guildies step forward - one to host the site, the other to design the site.

Actually this isn't for a guild forum but probably a pet project for a community forum.
We'll see how it goes. If I can get it off the floor starting 2008.

Thanks Peanutz. Well, looking around and found this site. http://www.phpbb3now.com/And it's an "experiment" at a community forum so we'll see how it goes.

I've used phpbb3now for a few of my clan's / guild's forum for various MMORPG's. Seems to have been stable the past few years and few forums. So it could be good.
