QUOTE(-pWs- @ Dec 23 2007, 09:44 AM) so far good. bought at 588 with quad fx slot.i seen you can basicly set manual all the item that we need. even timing and others. dont see any issue in with the board. if we run orthos normal we do a cpu blend test or cpu stress test? QUOTE(dblooi @ Dec 23 2007, 06:00 PM) hmm...i just read it too... timing, vdimm is definitely insane. its has so many options until i dunno what set.i guess is the manual not detail enough i will give a C- to this handsome mobo's manual edited: just check the layout of the mobo , notice that it has two phase power design for ram part ( while normal mobo only have single phase). theoretically this mobo is build to do insane ram oc |

QUOTE(dblooi @ Dec 23 2007, 08:28 PM) after some googling, yep, must be diff ram slot color. i feel my cpu still bottleneck my card. at last i found the bios dram configuration SS of your mobo bro -pws-, you would love to see this [attachmentid=365114] rig photos [attachmentid=365115] [attachmentid=365116] hey wait...i think he plug his ram wrongly adi if i'm not mistaken, to form dual channel on MSI mobo, two sticks of ram need to plug in different colour dimm slots [attachmentid=365117] check his CPU-Z SS, really single channel only another typical case of didn't read manual b4 setup the rig link: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=167447 |

QUOTE(lohwenli @ Dec 25 2007, 05:13 PM) No. Its 16x only if there are 2 GPUs or less, if more then it will split one or both of the 16x lines into 2 8x lines. 8x at pcie 2.0 is equally pcie 1.0 16x. so it will be running 16x 8x 16x 8x pcie 2.0. Kind of sayang very few 790FX mobos actually have slots for 4 GPUs. But then again, very few games can make use of even 3 GPUs. There's an interesting article in anandtech The 8-pin CPU power connector is different from the 8-pin PCI-E connector, you won't be able to force it in even. However it is possible to rewire it to be useable for PCI-E. Just change the CPU plastic plug with the PCI-E plug. |
