aloo all sifu2x..one question..what ram your all use for only overclockng purpose ..the value ram or the high performance one??both also can use for overclockng rite??(correct me if im wrong k)..and where to get water cooling and active ram cooler..at lowyat shop got ka??which shop??..thankz
i currently have two sets of ram (2x1GB kingston and 2x512mb crucial) and both are value ram. different people may have different insight about overclocking.

to me, it's always about price per performance ratio. i can't afford expensive performance parts, that's why overclock comes into the picture. get the cheapest parts and overclock to match performance part rating.

but as usual, overclockable cheap stuffs are considered gems.

some other people just want to push stuffs to the limit, that's why they buy high performance stuffs.

er use normal ruler can ah? or need pro tools like micrometer screw gauge?

I have a micrometer, you can borrow it if you can figure how to get it from me in penang and return it when you're done..

what's different G1 n G2..
G2 can clock higher with stock voltage?
*
It can clock a lot better than G1(3.0Ghz with stock cooler & stock voltage is quite possible), and the heat & power consumption barely rises even when overclocked.

QUOTE(-pWs- @ Jan 9 2008, 05:20 PM)
I saw somewhere else that G2 has its memory controller tweaked.

-pWs-
*
I'm not sure about this, but the cache latency seems to be unchanged from G1.

Gasak with those 200/400 sand paper till yr IHS bocor then slowely using fine grade lor....should be able to see the core.
The IHS still attach...the only one F3 in the world maybe  tongue.gif
*
Lol..almost like removing the IHS, but with the edge remaining as a shim..
May have some slight contact problems though, you gotta be very even on all sides.

Bingo, me got this type of thinking too smile.gif
That is why I never invest into those high performance RAM tongue.gif

The most expensive I will invest in a PC system is the LCD coz no one teach me how to OC LCD doh.gif

Coz many ppl said nowadays those IHS were laser welded, very high risk to cause core damage when remove.
If lap till see the core I will still sand those remaining IHS lower to get better contact to the core tongue.gif

i guess most AMD users are budget wise minded, that includes me as well. Speaking of which... performance rams these days are blardy cheap, can't wait for my 4gb kit from kingmaker, RM400 for a kit of 2x2gb DDR1000 kit drool.gif

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else here feels that AMD runs windows smoother than intel counter parts? being using dblooi's F3 for awhile.. and a couple of days ago i set up my friend's C2D E6850 and it a littler choppier than my very own F3.... hmm..

amd x2 5200+ vs amd x2 5000+ black edition

which one better?

i saw the review that x2 black edition can overclock and beat x2 5000+, but x2 black edition cache is smaller than 5200+

Black edition till the end is still a brisbane, on the same clock as a 5200 does, the 5200 wins. The black edition has an unlocked multi which makes it fun to tweak, you can have a cheap ram and clock the CPU skyhigh without ram limitation and also, keep the speed low while burning your ram skyhigh.

But after tasting Windsor and brisbane cores, id go for 5200+ anytime rather than 5000+ BE.

I don't know but, I don't see the point of running high HTT because it doesn't increase performance.

i found out that most review recommand 5000+ BE insted of 5200+, cause 5200+ cant do much in overclock.

review? nowadays they are more like corrupted advertisements to me smile.gif
a CCB8F 5200+ beats 5000+ BE in no time, in term of clock to clock CPU performance , OC ability and also L2 cache capacity and latency notworthy.gif

edited: unlocked multiplier? i doubt that you will use up to 25x multiplier laugh.gif

instead of getting 5000+ BE, might as well get a 4400+ G2

Yes, reviews are only used as a refference and not final concluding result. Most review these days are corrupted.
