It's not necessarily easier, as German technical words are bigger and complex. Simple words are easy because German is related to Dutch, Afrikaans, Malay/Indonesian, and English a little.

French is similar in that it uses genders (masculine, feminine, neutral).

Of course, it will be hard to be able to be conversant and fluent in German or French in s short length of time without sheer dedication.
