u can even set a few temperature thresholds yourself and set the fan speed when the temps pass the respective thresholds. all with rivatuner.

btw, some say that by removing the stock cooler's COVER ( not the whole heatsink, only the cover that has the manufacturer sticker on it) the temps would b reduced. Is that true?

QUOTE(ianho @ Dec 25 2007, 01:15 PM) U guys worried about 8800GT temps shud check out the super duper uber cool temps of the Zotac AMP. I just tested mine n they're only running at 62C full load. Not only that, I'm running them in SLI in a super small n tight SFF case called the Silverstone SG03. I loaded up the dual core CPU to 100% n then ran the Zotac AMPs at 100% n still the temps were nice n cool. The all aluminum cooler from Zotac must be working really well. I'll post the screenshot later coz it's in the SG03 rig n I'm using my King Kong rig to post this now. did u modify the fan speed via rivatuner? |

@neokohai
the palit at czone is the older 8800gt(reference) or newer ones with non-reference pcb and blue cooler like the pictar? Coz the newer ones have 3 phase power thus better OC while the older with stock cooler is just stock. |

my gigabyte 8800gt turboforce has suspiciously high temps:
idle : 55-58!!!??? load : max w/ cod4 at 85!!!! i opened the zalman cooler to resit it and replace with as5. Found out that the thermal compound is hardened and sticks to the contact plate of the zalman. So I had to force a bit to separate it. Quite shocked to see the compound is hard already. Its so hard that it comes off in bits and flakes. Think of it like hardened mud on the soles of your boots. Cleaned it with alcohol (quite hard) on the chip and plate and applied as5. Will update the temps later. Luckily only 1 crash so far during cod4. Played crysis, gow, ut3 without problems. I tracked temps using rivatuner and ntune - both seems to correlate. My casing is a Centurion 5 with 1 evercool 12 cm fan pushing around 80cfm outwards at rear and the silverstone strider 560 psu fan. One vantec 8cm fan replacing the stock 8cm in front bottom near the HD ( have 3 hard disks) blowing IN. And the C5 stock 12 cm rear fan I put via tape to the drive cage pulling IN. Side panel is closed with no fan inlets and non-air conditioned room with ceiling fan. Room has adequate ventilation. CPU Temps seem normal with a X2 4000 Brisbane G1 at 2310mhz on stock HSF getting idle around 37. My mobo is a Biostar TA690G with the 8800gt card taking 2 slots, 1 slot with vizo propeller fan card(set to lowest or medium, makes little difference in temps), and last slot is a TV card(cramped). I refer to my earlier post
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « After applying as5 and running on open side panel managed to idle around 52 and load (crysis) around avg 70 and max 76. The air flow is really bad in my C5. The case have been divided into 2 heat zones by the card. When I put my hand inside, the area above the card(CPU area) is much cooler than below the GC. This is compounded by the hot intake by my 8cm vantec at the lower front running thru 3 hard disks so there u have it - a hot area. Now im considering to make a 12cm fan hole on my side panel for intake as the lower front fan is ineffective. X2 4000 Brisbane G1 @ 2310mhz, 2 gb Mushkin 667, Biostar TA690G Crysis at 1152x864(17" CRT), all high except post processing and physics are medium, 2 x AA avg at 30-35fps(will do detailed using fraps later) |

my turboforce is idle-ing at 55 and load at high 70s. Yeah, its damn high. Open side panel in a non-aircon room with 1 ceiling fan. I think I have airflow issues,
