This is how i cool off my PNY 8800gt card with stock heat sink with fan speed maintains on 35% using rivatuner.

[attachmentid=384985][attachmentid=384986]

Idle Core temp : 48c-49c
Idle Ambience temp : 38c

Max Core temp : 60-65c when running benchmark but maybe slightly higher if play game with longer hours
Max Ambience temp : 55-58c

By putting a PCi slot fan on top of the card do help a little bit of cooling. So, Rm 15 bucks well spend

it seems that gigabyte card can't use rivatuner to set the fan speed. That's what ppl talked before and I also didnt notice any changes from the fan speed ingame.

oops, i forgot your 8800gt is using old zalman vf700 cooler. blush.gif
that means the cooler is definitely insufficient for oc. tongue.gif

details very high on 1280x1024. didn't check the fps but its quite smooth. i say it should be 28-30fps.

If I enable AA the performance will drop few fps.
I turned off AA for best fps. rclxm9.gif

Added on January 23, 2008, 4:46 pm@blurjoey, use the hardware monitoring in riva tuner. after u opened it, play a high performance games like gears of wars @ crysis, then after somewhile minimize n look at the temperature.

dont need to get out of game to look for temps.....u can set rivatuner to show whatever parameters u want on an OSD in-game. By using this way, i no longer need to log the temps to file bcoz i can see real time.

Heres how to do it, step by step :

I monitor 2 items only : FPS, and GPU Core Temp

The OSD is quite ugly sweat.gif
I'll stick to minimizing my apps. Won't affect me after all.
