Macross doesn't get as much love as Gundam because it lacks emo bishie characters who get plot shields and invincible mecha.

Only veterans and seasoned anime lovers can truly appreciate good mecha. A rare commodity indeed.

I think it's partly true but still, if you look at what macross is all about and not just human fighting human on Mobile Suit, you will see that it has a different taste and feeling towards the story and their mecha. I can see some jaw dropping moments when i show some macross movie/series/ova to few of my friends and few bunch of people (who never seen macross before). Even commented "George Lucas should learn from these people how to shoot". But it's a subjective matter. Of course we really cannot compare with gundams which is massed produced by bandai even without a good storyline or visual presentation.

Well, from my personal observation today after seeing thirty over teens watching macross (frontier) for the first time, they just want to know more (can't wait for the next episode). It has a new way of reaching out to people and sure enough, carries a weight in the anime and mecha world. Well, we hope that this event will open up more eyes on macross and build bigger interest towards the macross saga.

The unfortunate reality is that many people just choose NOT to look at what macross [and many other good mecha] is all about. I love macross, and I know it's good, but I don't know if the general public would say the same

Who remembers Macross? Ask angmoh they all say Robotech lah. Robotech got movie meh? Not yet out right? When movie out sure nobody will ever remember Macross, just like nobody remembers Transformers used to be Microman. Most Robotech fan-sie also never see Macross Zero lah. If see they sure go sheet lah. What water is this?

Btw angmohs who've seen the light won't go back to Robotrash. I was willing to give HG a chance when they came up with Shadow Chronicles...but OMFG.....they had 5 years....and delays....and they came up with that crap CG and lousy battle choreography. MacF blasted Shadow Chronicles into ashes man. LOL!

Robotech was shown in malaysia not macross, thats why everybody remember robotech....

Macross also shown in Malaysia. TV1. 8-9am, Sabtu. With repeats even.

I first got confuse with Macross with Robotech which i got scold from Forum elitist..

eventually i figure out.. and A fren of mine lend his first Macross DVD.. and it came out good..

I love macross as its the only anime with more missle barage than anyother anime..

Suprisingly I during those days I loved the malay version of MAcross more than Robotech, even tho I can understand english completely. It's an omen XD

What about Macross Zero? Shin Kudo vs Nora. She humping evaded all his missiles and her plane was better in terms of combat ability. Anti-UN stole the know-how from the UN on veritech fighters. Guess I'll have to put it down to superior air combat capabilities of the pilot.
