Please recommend to me a system/rig with a budget of around RM7000. I will use it to play games such as Crysis in full/highest detail. Please state the price of the componenets listed. Here is what I got after surfing around but I am not sure whether it will break the budget. The RAM, I chose 800MHz because 667MHz and 800MHz not that much difference in price. I want to use Intel, nVidia. Minimum of 320GB of HDD space. Any brand of components will do. Example: ASUS or Gigabyte. I will not be using the parts from other computers. I will need a k/board, mouse and monitor.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula
Graphics card: ASUS EN8800GT TOP/G/HTDP/512M
Soundcard: Intergrated/onboard
RAM: 2X 1GB Kingston Value DDRII 800MHz
HDD: 2X 320GB Western Digital SATAII 16MB Cache
Optical drives: 2X Lite-On DVD+/-R/RW 20X SATA
Floppy disk: 1.44 USB External Floppy Drive
Monitor: Dell 22" Entry Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor E228WFP DVI
Mouse & Keyboard: Logitech Internet Desktop Pro USB
PSU: Silverstone ST60F PSU
Casing: Cooler Master CM690 (RC690)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate RTM6000 (32-Bit)

Thanks for the reply. RM7000 is not a lot, especially when you see other peoples rigs that are used for gaming.

IMHO i think the PSU is not adequate to handle all the power that your system requires. coolermaster PSU does not run on TRUE power but REAL power which usually interperates to 70% of written spec for running power.

invest in better RAM as the vista components will depend on it, Please note that Quad Core is only supported with Vista and Higher.

with all the specs looking great, also try to get a better set of keyboard and mouse as it will improve your experience tenfold.

if you have the budget, i would recommend a raptor harddrive & a sata drive. the raptor drive will help with performance of critical applications(games and operating system) whilst the sata drive holds information such as video's songs etc...

please dun flame me, this is all just my humble opinion.

Thanks for all the replies. I already changed the specs. I don't really bother about the keyboard and mouse as long as can type and click then it'll be okay. I also have a Logitech MX518 Gaming-grade Optical Mouse. I won't be getting the Samsung because I want to try other brands. I have 2 Samsungs in my house. I wouldn't need 8GB of RAM too. I will choose the Silverstone ST60F PSU as recommended by 'DevilMan'.

Wait, I am confused now. Can Intel Core 2 Quad support Vista Ultimate and XP Professional both of the OSes will be (32-Bit)? I will be dual-booting but with Core 2 Quad as the primary OS.

If your not getting Samsung so try Viewsonic/LG. I really feel its faster and better Dell.
If you browse in Bulk Order Moderno is selling 2gbkit 1gbx2 ddr800 ram with heatsink for 200.
Worth the buy. Get a normal CPU heatsink like Hyper TX around 95 for your casing and put all 12cm fan in your casing.
If you manage nicely you can able to squeeze Razor mouse and maybe keyboard.
I also had the same mind before until I use DeathAdder. Its a different nice feeling, you should try it.
You wont regret it.

you are wrong about real power/true power PSU... 4me its the same concept. true PSU rated 450W means it can supply 450W DC.... and draw 450W from AC. However, real PSU is not ideal PSU. That's why a term called efficiency is exist. Nowadays, typical high quality PSUs have more than 80% efficiency. So it turns out that PSU will draw AC 562W to supply DC 450W.

I don't really bother about the sound. As long as I can hear sound then it's fine. I will be using the onboard soundcard. As for the output I have a Premium Notebook Headset which I bought in China.

agree on the OS part.

the setup looks good but certainly not the best in that price range IMO.

now let's look at it.

ASUS Maximus Formula is at least RM 1k. being a CF capable board, the TS choose 8800GT, which is really IMO under-utilizing the board.

anyway if TS change the board to something around RM 400 - 600 range.

that means RM 400 - 600 saved.

those 3 parts that i bolded, i believe it could be adjusted so that TS actually get better framerates and better sound system out of it.

alright. smile.gif no soundcard also, still i think the mobo looks like overkill.

the money could be saved or allocated to the other parts of the PC.

that soundcard suck, its just as bad as any other onboard sound.

go the way of audiophiles and get an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude, it has never failed me and sounds absolutely awesome for games, movie, music.

to TS:
drop the floppy, get a better monitor, buy a good sound card and pair it up with a good speaker.

i have to agree with goldfries about the mobo... kinda overkill imho.a P5K would do the job well enough or mebbe one of the gigabyte mobos. though if u want an X38 mobo, i dont know of any other X38 mobos other than the maximus though.

either way, money saved from the mobo could be used for a better monitor such as the 226Bw and mebbe have some spare for 2gb more ram.

also, i dont think a single 8800GT can play crysis at max details @ DX10 on 1680*1050.

if you know "hidden Maximus" , it is Asus P5E. The price would be around Rm900..not very sure.

I dont think its very "need" to buy Maximus. For me.

for the 8800gt play crysis at full settings...hmm..
single card is very weak.

for the sake of this discussion, i tried Crysis with 8800GT 512MB + E2140 @ 3.2ghz + 2GB RAM at

1680x1050
every detail set to HIGH
AA set to 8x

it was unplayable.

1680x1050
every detail set to HIGH
AA set to 0x

it feels sluggish. i didn't run FRAPS but instinct says it's around 15 - 20 fps. sad.gif unplayable in my book.

at least the HD2900XT 512MB shows playable framerates at

1680x1050

First of all, I am not into these consoles as PS3 or Xbox 360 can play Crysis or Bioshock. It must fulfill my purpose.

I may consider your enticing specs but your monitor is 17" ah? A little bit too small.

Thanks for the replies again. biggrin.gif I don't really agree with this specs as I am an Intel, ASUS, nVidia, Kingston. I also don't need sound car or speakers. Anyway, more recommendations please.

With DDR2 getting very cheap now, I suggest getting 2x2GB rams. If you can wait, get your hands dirty with Q9450. tongue.gif

Yup, it's like we like all the same thing when I see your siggy but I don't need 4GB RAM, like I said 2GB is enough as I will be using Vista ReadyBoost to add another 2GB through my thumbdrive.

No thanks, it's too much for me. I will be using ReadyBoost anyway.

Yup, I don't have rush to buy the computer. I may buy it during PC Fairs next year or when the prices get cheaper and the 45NM processors roll out from Intel and maybe DDR3 prices drop already. Thanks for all the replies, anyway keep the replies coming in. biggrin.gif
