Now , my options:
1. Use webased/laptop to install apps and open .
2. Buy a cheap phone to get the apps.
Please advise #1 and #2 .

thank you
*
Use both. Memu or NOX for laptop/desktop. One of those cheap redmi should do the job.

Don't think you can transfer to bank accounts. Only can withdraw via atm
*
That is sad. sad.gif Should have option to be able to withdraw our money back to our bank account.
Nevermind. I shall just topup with what I need to pay and keep the card at RM0 at all time. Tony Fernandes is not going to get my extra cash biggrin.gif

Confirm with Bigpay that once money goes in, cannot be transferred out. So just put in the minimal guys. No need to put extra.

big pay is prepaid card and not really debit card
cannot accept prepaid card?
still can if u terminate the card.
*
I am not going to terminate this card as
1) I can use this card and do my groceries shopping anytime without needing tho think about cash back (combo with public bank Quantum)
2) I get cheaper rates for US shopping with tunemoney card.

Hi guys. I have a few questions here.
1. If I topup rm10k in it and I use the card in US, I have the option to choose to pay in USD or MYR right? (In which payment in USD would be the best?)
2. It's stated that there's some cross border fee + currency conversion fee. But I heard from some people that right now there's no fee for overseas transaction for a period of time? Any idea when it will be until?
3. Is using bigpay for retail payment a lot beneficial compared to using normal debit card in US?
4. Is there any maximum withdrawal amount in USD, considering overseas cash withdrawal is costly, one would definitely withdraw a lump sum in every withdraw.
*
1. If I am not mistaken USD. But let's wait for others to confirm.
2. See
FAQ
Once their customer base is large enough then they start charging. devil.gif
3. I think normal US debit card is better. Combine that with moneymatch/instarem (if you have US bank acciunt)
4.Not sure.

Thank you very much for the feedback. Greatly appreciate it

I will give you another different advise. Best to open a US bank account. Why?

1) you are unlikely to visit the US again. Why regret say 10 years down the road that you did not open account. Open 2 so you can keep the US account "active"
2) opening a US bank account open you up to cheap investment option in US as you are able to move money easily between brokerage
3) it's awlays good to have bank account overseas

There are so many US banks offering free bank account.

Hi, thank you for your suggestion.

1) why do you suggest to open 2 accounts? Is it so that I can make some transaction between the 2 accounts through online banking so as to keep it active?
2) which bank do you suggest me to open without any minimum balance or annual fee for maintaining the account?
3) what type of account should I open? Savings account only? Or current account too?

Highly appreciate your reply smile.gif
*
Yes. To keep your account active.
Just Google. Zero fee bank account in the US.
Savings in US is usually have limited amount of withdrawal a month (2-3x/month)
Current usually have unlimited withdrawal.
So is your choice.

can we use bigpay card to pump petrol? is it need to have at least RM200 inside our bigpay card?
*
Keep min amount inside. Topup if you need to use it.
Reason: you can't transfer back to your bank account. So somehow you need to use it up.

why?

bigpay has no dependency to your income.

everyone is equal, can get bigpay for him/herself.

You can't. It's their internal system
*
Then the part about getting good exchange rate is based on the fact we manually type in the card details?

If my English doesn't fail me, it implies a lot about BigPay giving cash back, hence the confusion. Thanks all for clarifying though.

I think Cashback here means no need to pay for processing fees.

They are not stupid!
Tony's team purposely created the loopholes for all of us to jump in for their new Fintech project.
Once they build up a good customer base for BigPay, together with AirAsia's, Tunetalk's, Tune Insurance's customer data, they will make a lot of money from using this data.
*
I agree. Once they have big customer base, they will start charging fees.

But their overseas exchange rate damn good. Exactly like xe.com rates.
