i'd say its normally WoW side after maintenance, sometimes it happens...
but who knows coz we have a very unreliable isp which lately seems to be slow imo.. |

Checked the tracerts to lowerping and to us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com,
Seems its weird routing from Streamyx at the moment. A few of the routers are getting higher than usual ping and to lowerping, there are some dropped packets. There isn't much you can do I think, wait till Streamyx finishes whatever it is they are doing atm. |

QUOTE(eyantie @ Dec 12 2007, 04:56 PM) Not sure if its normal for you, but since around august, the gateway hop (2nd hop for me) almost always times out. It seems like the server/router itself is trying to disallow PING, the only weird thing is, it works on tracert, but not the normal 'ping' functions -- so almost all my tracerts to anywhere have a lot of dropped packets on the 2nd hop, but I've just stopped caring at this point. |

Jubei realm. Consistently on 1.7k now. Earlier morning till 2pm was on 2k-3k latency, hitted 8k 2 times and disconnected a few times when hitting 2.5k.
Guildies confirmed that this only affecting Malaysia and its not the server cuz they getting usual latency. Sigh ... paying 2g to anyone willing to bomb streamyx hq. |

rather than just bashing on tmnet, look at what other isp in our country has to offer?why blame tm when other companies cant give any competiton to tmnet?
just look at australia, their major backbone is telstra but they have internode and iinet giving major competition here? jaring has been around for ages but they cant do shit also blame government supporting tmnet? well that's just bs. lets say tm no support from gov, i guarantee the service we get will be poorer |

Australia is a bad example. If you speak to any Aussie out there, they will yell that Telstra doesn't help them either. They are cap every month from the amount of downloads based on their package and Telstra has refused to provide support when things go sour if it's not their line. Even their CEO said this. So it's basically the same scenario as TMnuts and us when it comes to backbone problems. The competition in Oz can only help so much but each have their own quirky problems as well.just look at australia, their major backbone is telstra but they have internode and iinet giving major competition here? jaring has been around for ages but they cant do shit also blame government supporting tmnet? well that's just bs. lets say tm no support from gov, i guarantee the service we get will be poorer And calling the helpdesk, tehre's problems in 2 areas in selangor and 1 in pahang. so lines are heavily loaded for the home users, as usual sigh. zoned into SSC to do lurker and crash repeatedly during mob pulls. |

QUOTE(myremi @ Dec 12 2007, 09:00 PM) Australia is a bad example. The competition in Oz can only help so much but each have their own quirky problems as well. ouch..no wonder u not online suddenly... :\And calling the helpdesk, tehre's problems in 2 areas in selangor and 1 in pahang. so lines are heavily loaded for the home users, as usual sigh. zoned into SSC to do lurker and crash repeatedly during mob pulls. seems like there is a prob eh..any ETA by them when will it get fixed? |

Sigh, getting 1k - 2k latency on Uldum.
It's not just WoW that's for sure, even my pings to yahoo.com are averaging 444ms. Usually 2xxms. BUT.. when I use the Streamyx bandwidth test, everything seems fine. So if I call them up sure they'll say nothing wrong with Streamyx. Sigh. |

QUOTE(ray123 @ Dec 12 2007, 08:27 PM) Ha ha. Are you sure you're living in Malaysia? we only have 1 telephone provider? lol? You brought up Jaring. What can Jaring do when TM has a monopoly of the last mile connection? Australia have several different telephone providers, Telstra is just one of them (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communications_in_Australia). In comparison, we have one: TM. Your choice of words is poor. It is not exactly "support", it's "protectionism". Why does a small country like Singapore can support 3 major ISPs? Competition is so high there that they offer you plasma tv, monitors and computers just to encourage subsribers to sign with them. You should re-post your post at the Broadband User-2-User section in Lowyat and see how many people would disagree with you. edit: spelling |

Anyone tried this? (c&P without html links embedded, see source for full links)
---- (source: http://www.mmo-champion.com/ which they got from EJ) International lag fix WoW lags, it's not something new if you're playing on servers a bit far away from your country, but don't worry people are fixing it ! Out of all the methods offered to fix the lag on your machine, one of them posted on Elitistjerks forums seems to work very well. <> <> <> Read this first <> <> <> 1 - It might have side effects, like slowing down your download speed or affecting your performance on other softwares. (In my case, it didn't change anything) 2 - If you're not sure about what you're doing, just don't do it. I don't want to be responsible because you crashed your computer in some way because you wasted your registry. 2.1 - Seriously, if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. It will be fixed in one or two weeks anyway. (and the official fix won't have any impact on other softwares) 3 - If you don't have the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\ directory, you can download and apply this file to your registry. 4 - Windows Vista users might want to check this post too. Source - Elitistjerks.com "1 - TcpAckFrequency - NOTE if you are running Windows Vista this setting may not have any effect - a hotfix is needed which i'm tracking down. This works fine under Windows XP Type "regedit" in windows "run.." dialog to bring up registry menu Then find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ There will be multiple NIC interfaces listed in there, find the one you use to connect to the internet, there will be several interfaces listed (they have long names like {7DBA6DCA-FFE8-4002-A28F-4D2B57AE8383}. Click each one, the right one will have lots of settings in it and you will see your machines IP address listed there somewhere. Right-click in the right hand pane and add a new DWORD value, name it TcpAckFrequency, then right click the entry and click Modify and assign a value of 1. You can change it back to 2 (default) at a later stage if it affects your other TCP application performance. it tells windows how many TCP packets to wait before sending ACK. if the value is 1, windows will send ACK every time it receives a TCP package. 2 - TCPNoDelay This one is pretty simple (Discussed here) Type "regedit" in windows "run.." dialog to bring up registry menu Then find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters Right-click in the right hand pane and add a new DWORD value, name it TCPNoDelay, then right click the entry and click Modify and assign a value of 1. Click Ok and close the registry editor, then reboot your PC." Basically, this fix is deactivating the Nagle algorithm to improve your ping. If you don't want to do it you can just wait for the 2.3.2 patch as it's supposed to deactivate it too, but I don't think you can test it on PTRs right now because the updated patch notes from the latest PTR Build (7705) are actually for the upcoming build (7710).
