how much did u pay for your Dell 1501..?

i'm using acer aspire 5500(ati x700), RM4400(2years ago), still works great and even plays World In Conflict, Gears of War, etc.

my bro's laptop(ati x1100), RM2500, could only play games up to Warcraft 3 level of graphics...

unfortunately, your ati x1150 is not as good as u thought it is, check out this website, http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html

chart comparison out of 100 top cards:-
my x700 is on (44), your x1150 falls on (79), my bro's x1100 is (91)

Fifa 2008 and NFS Carbon are two way different games in terms of gfx power hunger.. what you can do is just install the games and start low graphic settings first and see how smooth is your gameplay.. if its acceptable, try raising it a bit higher..

also how much RAM is installed in your laptop?

Your RAM will affect the speed or lagginess or the game too. Personally, I recommend a minimum of 2GB but the more the merrier.

Personally, I recommend a minimum of 2GB but the more the merrier. With 1GB you can play Warcraft III: RoC and Warcraft III:TFT without any problems but not sure in high settings because of your graphics card being the bottleneck. I don't know about sport games because I don't play them.

dude.. seriously just go install and test on your laptop, we can't give u real satisfying info because we don't use x1150.. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif
but i think as long as can you can start games like Warcraft III, then Fifa08 shouldn't be a problem..
trial & error lah, bro.. go for it!! laugh.gif

i even installed World In Conflict on my bro's x1100 laptop today.. it can run at lowest settings n bit slowdown when too many objects on-view.. but heck, its PLAYABLE!! whahaha!!!

my x700 laptop, no problem, just gotta turn of the evil shadows.. wink.gif

bro, like i said before, just install the games u'd like to play n see if it works okay for u or not, if it doesnt then leave it, if it does then enjoy, lor!! smile.gif

good luck!

p/s: at first it couldn't run, giving me error of missing directx9 files, so i looked for latest&updated directx9 installer, then hooked up it, and its smooth sailing smile.gif

wanna be on the safe side TS, get your self 2GB so your integrated graphics card can utilize all the ram it can get which is 256MB and leave the rest for background actvity which might take up to 1GB.. just an advice,. Now ram is really cheap. Good time to shop.

Yup, I definitely agree with you. RAM is getting cheaper now a days. Time to upgrade to 2X 1GB RAM.

Yup, definitely. If you have 2GB RAM and you share 256MB with GPU then at least still got 1.792GB RAM left.

most likely yes, but also remember that there are other factors involved in graphics too... not just memory sharing.. and how big the memory is for a graphics card.. anyways u can try, it would be worth a go

Yea, you should be able to play it at good settings. I haven't tested it before on a rig with your specs but you can always give it a try.

there u go, enjoy your games, bro!!
be proud that u're using laptop that's equipped with gfx chip thats better than the cheap so-called "intel EXTREME graphics"..
about the nfs carbon demo u're using though, did u modify only the resolution or other settings as well? like shadows, textures, etc.

For me it should be better to update all my drivers/OS before installing anything.

1st, about the driver, i'm sorry but i dont think u can use any of the latest ATI drivers because like my bro's x1100 it is not supported by the latest ATI driver, it just uses the vga driver provided by cd(also download-able thru acer website)... in ur case, u can start the games and play already, so don't try to delete or install any 3rdparty drivers, its working fine.. but if u still feel u want to go ahead, do as u wish.. in any case, for laptop's ATI graphics using mobility radeon drivers not the normal catalyst drivers..

2nd, is your laptop hot? do u place it flat on the table? u might overheat your harddisk over the period of time but not realize it..
but u might also be running programs that consume lots memory/cpu usage other than the game u're playing.. are you?
in any case, visit this site n download the NHC program, check the temperature reading...
