(ey sorry for startin this topic, cant find one for 360, there are some for other consoles, but i reckon they wont be much of a help)

rented this game the other day. my first time playing a wrestling game

imho, its not that bad, and i think it would be great game to play with a couple of frens (i'm finding co-op - local or live, a very important thing these days!)

the question is: is the 2008 version a better buy, or should i just get the 2007 cheap from the bargain bin?

reason i asked is, is it true that the 2008 targeting control very sloppy compared to 2007? found this quite true when playing the royal rumble mode. however, the reviews said the 2008 wrestlers lineup is much better

tried the demo already but seriously this new 2008 version very disappointing especially on the control part. dont think so will be getting it even though i am a huge wrestling fan. 2007 is still better!

I have the 2007 and tried the demo of 2008. Ok, the roster is a bit bigger this time but like u said, the targetting control and hit detection is much worse than 2007. Stick to 2007...

very true... i just dont understand why they wanna socalled "upgrade" their control in this new 2008 version. they should just stick with the older control system and upgrade something else. maybe thq as their developer felt that without such upgrade in their control system it wont be consider as a new 2008 version. sadly, for the first time in my life i am not going to own this game... seriously very hate the new control system lah!

bro judge: you and me both bro...you and me both. first time ever not buying the smackdown series. been playing from number 1 till 2007.

from the demo and reviews, nothing much has changed except for the different fighting styles, the 8 way running which makes it more realistic and not too robotic when running and the roster.

the 24/7 mode is weak, ecw's inclusion was like an afterthought, and what the hell - the so called 'outer ring' area for hardcore matches is the SAME with 2007???

graphics? hell, they already achieved near perfection in 2007. 2008? the hair still goes through the bodies. clipping issue still prevails.

for a first timer, i may suggest that you could pick up 2008. for those veterans, just stick to 2007.

P.S: in fact, i think it's the first time Gamespot ever gave a smackdown game a 6.5.

bro judge, got ps3 alredi haaa! laugh.gif

*sigh* i would only get the ps3 when it's cheap enough, and even then i'd buy it for blu ray movies, mgs 4 and probably rock band IF the 360 asian release gets canceled. sweat.gif

hoping the TNA impact game would be as good as the smackdown series. from the early previews, it kind looks like it's gonna suck as it kinda looks like WWF Attitude. however, the motion/animation of the wrestlers look awesome as the moves connect to body parts without weird animations/clippings.

hoping tht the control scheme and gameplay modes would make it a totally new game from the smackdown series.

"WOOOOO!!!"

what I found out about this game is that there is a lot of option to counter option and also special power ups. Each superstar has it own unique ability which is some how cool unless but at the same time super cheating. There is a new features which allows u to escape after grapple and cause back some extra damage if escape successfully. Overall the storyline for the games mode kinda sux cause .... its boring and ..... yeah ... its boring .... not much action which makes you really wanna beat up your opponent. Most of the time you be trash talking or maybe I just havent reach to the exciting part. I keep you updated.

Can anyone help me?

I can't seem to figure out how to pull the opponents away from the ropes when they are on the mat. The AI is able to do it but I can't!

It's not in the manual as well. Everytime I try, I pull the opponent up to his feet.

icon_question.gif please!!!!!

As for the complaints about the game, the load screens irritate the flying feck out of me. Find the roster is a little lacking (lots of new wrestlers I don't know as I haven't been watching for awhile now and all my old favorites are not included like Kurt Angle (in TNA now) and Chris Jericho).

But I'm still playing the game.....

To drag your opponent up ... all u need to do is push down right analog stick. To drag your opponent to one place to another is to hold down right analog stick.

Care to have a match ?

Thanks for the info man. You're a life saver!

Unfortunately, due to my un-earthly work hours, I don't play on XBOX Live. I work UK hours, 4pm - 1am Msia! Sorry!
