If you want to do this, keep in mind most oils will leave deposits which may cause damage. The oil used in that video in your link can be used safely, but is nearly impossible to wash off. You can easily consider your waranty completely void.

the video should have shown a temp reading of the system to know whether the mineral oil really does the cooling..

tats because the heat is not dissipated...the oil will absorb the heat but theres no mechanism to eliminate it..unlike water cooling (radiator) and air cooling (fans)..but maybe the bubbles can do the job...

actually, putting oil decreases the efficiency of the heat cooling .. becoz the oil itself is not a good heat conductor, u may assume the heat from the processor and graphics card may not able to transfer heat fully into the oil .. (best is 50%)

then again .. when u cool ur oil, the same thing happen, even u get thermochill rads or something, it still wont disperse the heat it as good as water, maybe 30% dispersed .. u may end up having the oil boiling at 60 deg celcius after running 1 hour

back to back, water is the cheapest, better heat conductor medium .. but u can try ... it'll just make the hell of stain out of ur pc and you .. not to mention if the bugs go in .. which they like to oil surfaces ..

any non conductive oil can be use. for cheaper solution just buy cooking oil. i read it before in tomshardware. get a aquarium of it. too little it will get too hot too fast. use a pump to flow the oil(like waterfall) so that it cool down faster.

edited. added website reference

oil is not electric conductor. water only conduct electric
(electric cannot go through)

if you really want to use mineral oil ..... get baby oil (it's mineral oil) or other extra (double) purified mineral oil for better efficiency

baby oil is purchasable in supermarket, pharmacy, or kedai runcit
avoid fragrance ones, coz those are addictives

you could also use silicone gel (lubricant), which purchasable in supermarkets, autoshops, hardware shops. keep in mind, silicone gel is not a good heat conductor, compared to the mineral oil

besure to keep in mind to get a a good pump which can deal with high vicosity fluids ... if you want to keep the oil cooled

this is an old thread ... someone should close this thread (my previous post is 2007!)

aiyoooo ... sometimes you guys should really read more ... atleast google a bit, just a few keys away
anyhow .. why mineral oil is not organic ... is because organic oil is IRRITATES the delicate, sensitive skin like baby, some babies are allergic to it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_oil

QUOTE
Medicine - external uses

Mineral oil with added fragrance is marketed as baby oil in the US, UK and Canada. While baby oil is primarily marketed as a generic skin ointment, other applications exist in common use. It is often used on infant "diaper rashes" to ease the inflammation. Similarly, it may alleviate mild eczema, particularly when the use of corticosteroid creams is not desirable. Mineral or baby oil can also be employed in small quantities (2–3 drops daily) to clean inside ears. Over a couple of weeks, the mineral oil softens dried or hardened earwax so that a gentle flush of water can remove the debris. In the case of a damaged or perforated eardrum, however, mineral oil should not be used, as oil in the middle ear can lead to ear infections. It is also a recommended way of removing an insect from the ear of a human. A few drops can drown the insect, which can then be easily removed.

Read through it seems I was wrong. Thank you for the correction. I was mis informed then when I bought baby oil years ago and asked the person there. I asked because the old oil smelled like rotten coconut oil.

hmmm......in a small casing I think 10 liters of oil should be sufficient. Probably 2-3 cans of engine will be sufficient

it can work without that. But seems it will affect the stability and the lifespan of the hardware...

You can try it if you have a extra hardware... Anyway. Dun fix it if its not broken. Mod at your own risk.
