Would this(VM) be best to run in the background or on my spare pc?

Also which of these 2 ips do I use? (These are the 2 ips I got when I connected to Barthilas)

if you dont have at least a decent dual core, best to run it on your spare pc

for the IP, 1 is authentication server/realm authentication server, wait a while and the other should be on "wait" status and the other IP being active. use the active one

yeh thnx got it running fine on same pc - quad core with 2gb of ram

my ping is actually 300ms HIGHER - could this be from perhaps a minor typo in the command? i might re-do everything

if your vm linux already have a spam of text flowing, then its working.

and 300ms is actually fine for vm linux. you can always compare with and without vmlinux and see the difference. better yet, get addons like quartz for real time ping display and GCD display.

(you can use skills like find herbs to test GCD delays)

Yes the terminal was being spammed - I know it was working, what I mean to say is I had 900 ping instead of my normal 600.

900 ping with vm linux? then you have to check your lagmyx connection.

if your vmlinux is properly routed, it will reduce your pings from 20% to around 40+%.

given the % based reductions, if ur lagmyx connection is already shit, dont expect miracles.

best way to be sure as ive mentioned, is to run vmlinux, look at ur pings, then run without vmlinux, and take a look again. if theres 20-40%+ reductions with vmlinux, its working fine.

I know everything your saying. I was asking if I had maybe had a typo when typing the commands in the terminal if it may have not have been as efficient.

I re did everything and now it seems to be fine. 350-400 ms.

Thanks for the tutorial.

Actually a few more questions.

I have no experience with "Feather Linux". Right now I'm in the process of installing it to the HD, how would I set it so when I boot it up it automatically runs the commands to route the connection. Thanks.

nah if its a typo or anything the whole thing wont even work (eg: no spam on ur vm linux)

so dont worry its working fine smile.gif

=edit=
to add in, i dont have much experience with linux either to be honest. the reason why i use and recommend a HDD installation is cuz you can create a text file with all the commands, save it and the next time you run it all you gotta do is copy and paste vs typing every damn thing out thats case f***ing sensitive and hope you get it right.

but if you happen to find out how to run startup scripts in linux, do let me know too, as it will eliminate my copy and paste process tongue.gif tongue.gif

So easy on ubuntu =P, just add a boot cmd and get it to run the .shell script. Not sure where to add boot commands on feather.

ubuntu and feather is based on the same linux platform, so should be able to do the same.

ill get back and try converting the extension to .shell and let you know tongue.gif

even if it doesnt auto load on boot, double clicking instead of copy pasta would still be easier biggrin.gif

Thinking of giving this vm linux thingy another go. Was happy with the registry hack but i want to see if i can get further improvements to my latency which is currently at 500-600 (to EU though).

Trouble is VMware is incompatible with Vista64 SP1 which requires signed drivers. Got any recommendations for any good (and free!) virtual machines that are compatible with vista 64?

depending on the OS your using on the VM. and/or just open multiple VM's tongue.gif

=edit=
if you refer to wow linux routing, i just run multiple console on linux lol. works biggrin.gif

to clarify:

i was playing TR (tournament realm) and my normal realm. and since im used to vmlinux, i got it to route the TR connection too cuz i cant bear the slightly additional delays tongue.gif

ok lets say ur bro on another pc, he gotta set his route thingy to your pc and more specifically to your vm, and the vm gotta get another console up to manage the connection
