Can anyone explain the study route of this ? Plan to take degree. Then i have to go through higher diploma/ associate degree ?
*
How long is ur course?
U have to get Diploma 1st Culinary
and then Higher Diploma maybe is 3rd year or 2nd year.

After Finishing ur higher Diploma u could choose either Degree on Hotel management or Degree In Culinary Arts( Basicly is under Hotel Management)

And then Final u could go over seas university to forward ur Studies.

QUOTE(raist86 @ Jul 22 2008, 01:12 PM)
hie guys,

I'm completing my degree in marketing soon. Wanna go into food industry, aka to become a chef. Guess i made a mistake for not going into CA last time.

Wanna ask, what's my available options? I'm a pretty good cook already at the moment (learn through books and videos), but wish to go through professional training to be a chef. Instead of just attending classes, can i go under apprenticeship with established chefs (ie, training in hotel kitchen or well known restaurants and etc). Know any such opportunity in Malaysia?

I wish we're like UK or Aust where there are lots of opportunity to train under well known chefs in restaurant. Its a lot of hard work for sure, but at the end, you're learning from the best. I've been asking around but so far its been pretty disappointing.
*
1 of my friend face the same problem.
He got his degree on busisness, and then end up dont really like the job, so he start to work at restaurant and etc.
So, he want to enroll into Hotels board. but hotel needs the Paper work. no cert cant join the hotel.
So now he is with us study diploma in CA

QUOTE(kokifung @ Jul 23 2008, 08:24 AM)

Hi guys, I'm currently interested in taking culinary arts. Right now I'm reading the program pathway of French Diploma In Culinary Arts in Taylors and noticed there are  mathematics based subjects like accounting and economics.

My question is how extensive are these subjects? I dislike mathematics by nature but have no problem with basic calculations and graphs, but I do avoid Advanced Mathematics type like a plague. Are there any other program that does not focus much on Mathematics based subjects ?
*
hey, yeah, all of my friend is like kena con by taylors thinking of doesnt need to study anymore, focusing on cooking. But, hahaha We gonna study those things smile.gif, its kinda useful for us too, understand the basic knowledge of Math,Science, Laws, French language, etc etc. rclxub.gif

Good Luck to u too

what do u learn?
is it boring?

DOnt expect no study involve over this course. U must be smart, talented in cooking and patient to get into this.
At 1st thought this course might be the less study course, but it end up u got to study some more.
Anyway, i do relise that all the lecturing is useful when we reahced Hotel/resort.
It doensnt mean i didnt encourage u do not take this course but think twice before u enroll to this course.
I was abit regret to enroll this course, because the people surround me doesnt mix well with me haiz...
anyway i do love my course, i Love cooking so much and i ignored those people.

Enjoy, enroll to this course. cheers icon_rolleyes.gif
