Hey everybody =)

I just bought a new guitar, an acoustic with electronics (EQ, presence, sound cut(?) and mid sweep, no tuner)...after a bit of haggling I ended up paying RM400 with a bag for it. It's a Kevinson acoustic, a Greenburst color steel string. Anyone ever heard of these guitars. I bought it from this guitar store on Penang, next to the Bukit Jambul Yamaha store. The salesperson said it's Chinese (it also sez that in the guitar=), I think it plays really nicely and sounded tolerable thru an amp, also sounds ok on it's on. The E-string has this bad-ish vibe to it if you play the guitar really hard, but then again it was only RM400. Stays in tune alright. Looks really damn good, it's like a sunburst except in green so I think you could call it a greenburst =)

I was just wondering if any of you have ever heard of this brand, Kevinson? Maybe it's some generic Chinese guitar that usually goes by some other name but this store has got a couple of them branded for themselves by the Kevinson name or something like that? Any ideas, experiences? =)

never heard of it, but which e-string of yours has that "bad" vibe?
I'm guessing it's the high e, since my B always has this somewhat "different" tone compared to my other strings unless I'm plucking an inch from the neck.

Actually it's the low E, but it doesn't sound bad unless I start to seriously beat the guitar. Also one reason for this might be, I don't have a tuner here (just moved to Malaysia like 5 days ago!) so I just tuned it by ear. Now the guitar is perfectly in tune (as in, strings are in tune with each other) but I don't know which tune cos I don't have a reference sound =D Judging from the sound of it I guess it might be a bit lower than standard E..like nearer to D# or something. So the strings might be a bit looser than what they were intended to be and thus rattle a bit when played with a heavy hand...

any idea where to get a reference pitch, say a 440hz A? I've seen a website with such a sound file but can't find it now =D

Really useful website with tuner, chords, and scales listed within.

For that price, most likely Chinese stuff.

I got a LevinSand or LevinHand (can't see crap from that symbol, not sure S or H)

for rm 360 with bag as well.

The A string is not clear when plugged through the amp, but who cares, I don't intend to amp the thing anyway since it's an electric acoustic.

I use it for finger strength training and also because I am kinda sick of my kapok's thick fretboard.

I've got a squier strat anyway but it's heavy when I wanna practice so I just use this newly acquired one first, then when i move to the electric i think it will be much easier.
