Frontlines PS3 Cancellation Is Official



THQ has today announced the cancellation of Frontlines: Fuel of War for PlayStation 3, confirming rumours which have been circulating around the internet over the last week. Frontlines on PS3 isn't the only title to be culled, with the PlayStation 2 version of Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed also pulled from the release schedule.

THQ has also announced the closure of its Concrete Games studio, which had been working on an unannounced title - now also canned. This unannounced title is joined by another unannounced game no longer to see the light of day, both of which had been scheduled for release in fiscal 2010.

"In October, we announced certain product quality initiatives, including personnel and structural changes in product development and a more rigorous internal and external product evaluation and feedback process," said Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ. "Consistent with these initiatives, we have taken actions to strengthen our pipeline and position ourselves to compete aggressively with compelling, high quality games."

Ryan Payton: "There Is No MGS4 Demo"



In the latest Kojima Productions Report, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots assistant producer Ryan Payton addressed rumors regarding a demo that is said to be available prior to the Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive's actual release. He denied UK magazine PlayStation World's recent article which stated that the demo Konami sent to the press will appear on the PSN Store in February.

According to what was brought up in the podcast, this isn't the first time PSW reported false rumor as fact. Early on in the lengthy discussion, Payton and host Mark McDonald pointed out previous mistakes published on the rag that should make for solid evidence disproving PSW's supposed insider info on which the mag based its report on.

Lost Planet Multiplayer Demo Available From PSN Japan



The PlayStation Store in Japan received a couple of demos today, which are accessible to you if you've setup a Japanese PSN account. There's a downloadable demo from Capcom's upcoming PlayStation 3 release of Lost Planet. It's surprisingly small, at about 231 MB. But it is a multiplayer demo. So you'll only be able to play if you get online.

Lost Planet game, set within the merciless frozen tundra of a hostile planet, humans struggle for survival as conflicts arise between man, the surrounding indigenous creatures and the monstrous beings that have invaded. Enormous world maps unfold as players battle the menacing invaders during blistering weather conditions throughout vast snow fields and deserted cities.

MGS4 Opening Movie, In Production Over a Year



The creator of MGS4's opening movie, Alexis Tylevich, joins Ken and Ryan on the show to discuss the project and talk about their wild night in Roppongi.

The opening movie includes PMC Adverts & Live Footage. Apparently Hideo Kojima himself is more impressed with this opening movie than the actual game!

Phil Harrison Quits Sony



Phil Harrison, president of Sony Computer Entertainment worldwide studios, will resign from Sony Computer Entertainment Group as of February 29, 2008, the company has announced. Kazuo Hirai, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, will immediately assume responsibilities as president of SCE worldwide studios, in addition to his current duties.

Harrison joined Sony Electronics Publishing (later Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) in 1992 prior to the launch of the original PlayStation, and has since played a key strategic role in the launch of four PlayStation platforms, as well as building strong relationships with game developers and publishers globally. Harrison led SCE's first party game development operations and aggressively pursued the development of new online entertainment experiences.

"As one of the founding members of SCE, Phil played a key role in the development and growth of the PlayStation business and our industry," said Hirai. "It is sad to see him departing from SCE, but I wish to express my gratitude for his many invaluable contributions and also wish Phil the very best of luck in his future endeavors."

"The past 15 years at Sony Computer Entertainment has been the defining journey of my life so far," said Harrison. "I am grateful to all the PlayStation family for their incredible support, guidance and friendship. It has been a privilege to serve as part of the team and be inspired by them on a daily basis. I am so proud of everything PlayStation has achieved and will continue to support its future in every way I can."
