Great news for DiVX and VC-1 capability.

But only 2GB? I have 2.2 GB 720p DiVX video, which I holding back from converting to MP4 because I'm waiting for the update, but now I don't think it can be played at all unless split.

Sony is very very strict about this kind of stuffs. They will not even touch your console if not bought from their authorised dealers.

for instance, lets just say your SG PS3 craps up, you cannot simply walts in singapore ask them to repair it, even if you offer to pay them.

They have all the serial numbers of the console designated to their countries, and if they find your serial number from other country, thats about it.

Even if they find the console's number there, you will still need to produce your proof of purchase, ie a singaporean receipt. Dont believe me? Try emailing them. As soon as they see the work 'Malaysia', its a no no. Even if you manage to bypass that, you still need to produce them the receipt.

Like in malaysia, the only authorised dealers for PS1, PS2 and PSP is sony wings. Other than that sorry.

look at it this way, things can only get better from here. It's not the last update , well what about the receipt we get from bernard? That isnt from the sony store right? so how ?

sniper, if u buy a sg ps3 and register it online, u can bring it back to repair

as its is an official unit from spore, regardless of where u buy

as in registration, i state mine as a gift (although i bought it in spore)

hence where can i get a receipt?
as long as u bring over a sg unit with online registration then they will do it (IIRC) but u bring HK unit, die die also they won repair

Is the link is applicable for all Asian PS3? Because I thought Asian server is in HK...

My PS3 is SG. I read in the US boards that someone from Asia updated his PS3 using the US server link, now his PS3 got problems.

The link seems from the Japan server...

Xvid is supported since its an open source codec based on divx also, but i'm more interested if they would support .srt subtitles as well.

aiman , just change the jp alphabets to er ... as ar? for asia? i also forget liao

but just to let u have a piece of mind, im using a SG set as well, i tried with jp and US b4, normally i use jp one

muahahahahhhaaa..... of coz! if my dvd player can play divx/xvid with .srt subtitles, i expect the PS3 to do the same or even better.

that's what i thought it would be.... some report can while others cant. Kene try sendiri nih, but i dun have a PS3 so have to rely on u guys la.
