It's called downscaling lah. 1080p signal downscaled to panel's native resolution. Not 1080i. Interlacing is a different story altogether.
*
It is downscaling. But it is also 1080i.

Go back and check your system. That's what my TV says when I click info, and that is what my PS3 is giving.

Interlacing is a different story, but not different altogether.

Pak cik Google says this:

QUOTE
1080i and 720p. The first, 1080i, increases the number of rows in your TV picture to 1080 and is interlaced - ie first the even rows are scanned, then the odd ones. The other, the 720p, has 720 rows but this time they are progressively scanned. This means that every row of pixels is shown in every frame.

That means with 720p TV (1080i), we are seeing only 720 vertical pixels per frame. At one frame, the odd numbered pixel lines, the next frame, even numbered pixel lines. So you never actually seeing 1080 vertical pixel lines. It Happens so fast we won't notice the interlacing.

QUOTE
1080i means 1080 lines are used to create your TV picture. Half of these lines are scanned and displayed in a first pass and the other half in a second pass. This is called 'interlaced scanning'.

So, our eyes aside, practically 1080p is much much more better than 1080i. We are seeing every single pixel of the source.

For a full HD 1080p TV, even f the source signal is 1080i, your TV will de-interlace the signal so you will still get a 1080p picture. Full HD 1080p TVs will not display a 1080i picture, only 720p TVs do.

Want want want...

Do you have the original mkv file too? does it come with subtitles in the mkv files? if not then just the mp4 would be fine....

I don't want to take without giving something back...so what I can offer is a lot of anime. I have boat loads of anime going over 500 GB...lost count already...multiple version of same anime also got....even those 720p and 1080p blu-ray rip though I all are in mkv format...I only convert them for watching then just delete them off...

You tell me what anime you want and I'll check if I have them...

So how can we arrange for it? you want blank DVDs? I can give to you...

PM me you contact number and I'll be sure to SMS/call you punya...
*
Sure. No problem. Some I have in MKV some I already delete after conversion. need to save space.

I PM you to discuss.

QUOTE(redbull_y2k @ Dec 14 2007, 02:40 PM)
Downscaling is downscaling, interlacing is interlacing. Two different terms la dude. Even when a 720p LCDTV accepts a 1080p input then rescale it to the panels res, the tv will still display the input format as 1080p! It all depends on the scaler chip inside the tv. So in short, downscaling is not interlacing!  wink.gif
*
Suit yourself dude.

If a720p TV can display in 1080p then those expensive full HD 1080p TV tak laku ler. My own TV is the living proof.

You win. Move on... icon_rolleyes.gif

Nice to see you guys got acquainted online. I coudn't do that just yet, still new in the gaming business.

Some news:

Sony Hears Cries For In-Game XMB

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2301.html

QUOTE
In speaking to ShackNews, PlayStation Network boss Eric Lempel said the idea of XMB in-game intergration is "high on Sony's priority list." This comes as good news to just about everyone, as many of us have been hoping for this feature ever since the system's launch over a year ago.

By the way, anyone notice that Red PS3? Awesome!

Great news for DiVX and VC-1 capability. thumbup.gif

But only 2GB? cry.gif I have 2.2 GB 720p DiVX video, which I holding back from converting to MP4 because I'm waiting for the update, but now I don't think it can be played at all unless split. shakehead.gif

I thought the same way too. But in the PS3 boards around the net they are saying that XVID is not playable with this update. hmm.gif

And yeah, SRT subtitles... biggrin.gif

Some notes about Firmware 2.10 that I notice:

Video icons - When group by album, the icons now plays the 15 seconds video again. Since update 2.01 this wasn't possible. thumbup.gif

Controller - after leaving about 1 hour (not sure how long actually), the controller actually turns of by itself. Before it stays on until we turn it or the system off. thumbup.gif

arghhhhhhhhhhh
wanna buy high velocity bowling on US PSN but failed.

Tried citibank and hsbc cards, no go.

about the billing addr, don't have to change one right? I just tried my card details but never touch the billing addr.

any feedback?
*
Muchi made a list of credit cards that can be used with different PSNs. He posted that somewhere. I think it should be made as a sticky, as people are asking this questions all the time. nod.gif

OK, while we wait for Muchi (he must have just gone to bed), here's my experience.

My Maybank Amex card (credit card, not debit) works for both US PSN and SG PSN, I have bought games from them. Also successfully registered for the UK PSN. thumbup.gif

Now my BILLING address, for US PSN I put the address for a hotel I know in Houston. However, I think any street address should do, but most importantly you need to have the city and state to match postal code. If not, I think you won't even get pass the card registration, let alone buying games.

They don't verify your billing address until you or someone reports the transaction is fraud, or Sony themselves are suspecting fraud. Just in case that happen, I squeezed my FULL real Malaysian billing address into the street lines of the RESIDENTIAL address, while maintaining the postal, city and of course, country as US. This way, if they're smart, they can double check and realize that it's not fraud, but rather some foreign kid trying to buy something from them, which should not be a bad thing right? hmm.gif

But sooner or later they'll find out about this, and they will make the billing address verification as compulsory in every transaction. By then we have to find some other way to buy their games. sweat.gif

I used the same method for both SG and UK PSNs. it works. For now! biggrin.gif
