ehh passing marks for all subjects is fixed at 40?
i heard it will be drag down >.< is tat possible... or if anyone know what is the passing marks for calculus please let me know >.> gonna fail this time T.T
*
standard passing marks for all subjects is 50
but final results depends on your lecturer and carry marks which is usually max 40 with exception of certain final year subject where carry marks can go as high as 80.

though the passing mark is 50... rarely ppl fail... lecturers hate to fail people... coz they will have to justify to the college y such student fail.. so to be save most lecturers tend to give C or C- for the not so performing students.

a D- is still considered pass but then ur GPA bye bye laa... and ur CGPA also bye bye unless u have a lot of As to compensate for the D-

yah it differs for each uni...
deans list or honours is not a way to justify which uni performs better

uniten had since abolished the 1st 2nd class system since 3 years ago...

the value of cgpa mostly influenced by leading industry employers...

whats the benifit getting deans list? got money ar? lol xD
*
nothing... after each sem juz get a useless cert...

however... if u get >3.5 evry sem means average grad CGPA>3.5
which is a minimum requirement for most scholarship sponsors expectation of your performance in uniten

can i drop a subject in sem 2 or 3 and replace it with the one i failed? or can i just simply add another subject?( i dont really mind if my timeteble is packed since it's my fault for failing in the 1st place)
*
u foundies, as long as u failed any one subject... u have to go for 4th semester..

remember.... subjects such as phyf matf and chef all have pre-requisites

assuming ur sem 3 = special sem

exp1:
if u fail PHYF 1 during 1st sem.... then 2nd sem u retake PHYF 1
sem 3 u take PHYF 3
then sem 4 u take PHYF 2

exp2:
if u pass PHYF 1 during 1st sem.... then 2nd sem u take PHYF 2
but then u fail PHYF 2
sem 3 u take PHYF 3
then sem 4 u retake PHYF 2

sem 3 dun offer any replacement subjects...
and sem 1 or 2 subjects is not offered during sem 3

important thing: don't ever try to be funny and fail any subject during foundie...

*
can be done in sem 4.
since the subjects always offered
if class full and ur having problem with time table
then can request for open additional slot juz for u
must be done and get approval thru ur HoD

@lee_lnh - just to share my exp...
i still remember when i was in special sem, during tat sem i was trying to add certain subject and the HoD has given me a green light to join that particular class after writing a letter to him... but stupid registar didnt gave me the approval to add that subject even after showing him a letter with HoD sign on it... i was like "wtf... HoD alrdy sign my letter n approve to take that class".. ah n btw, registrar phone me when they say i failed to add that subject and when i ask why they say "I dont know, the upper ppl decide it".. >_> and bcoz of tat i end up extending 1 sem in foundation
*
i'm sorry for ur case...

but u shuddve put in more effort...

maybe uve met a person which is not really responsible..

the academic/registrar department is so big

i dont have any problem with any of my subject registrations b4
because i always deal directly with the people i'm familliar and with
high authority.

many times ive delt with the asistant registrars, registrar himself, deputy VCs and the VC himself (pass and present).

huhu dem someone lied me la.. told me 1st week is holiday.. then i didnt attend any class.. just now i receive sms from my lecturer and he say i will be kick out from his section if i still didnt attend his class.. aiyark..
*
not to say that ur lying...

but for me personally i do not believe the story
too many discrepancies

1) Attendance is taken during the 1st week, but its not counted towards the entire attendance due to the FACT that 1st week is "add & drop" session where many will skip classes to perform "add & drop"

2) Lecturers do not have access to your handphone number. They can only have access to ur e-mail adress which u deliberately put down in your "info" page. In order to get your handphone, lecturers or departments must provide a strong reason why the number is needed.

3) SMS saying that you will be kicked out from class? Lecturers have no rights do determine you stay or leave the class. Thats the job of the registrar. 2nd... its a breach of TNB code of conduct to sent harassing messages, which can amount to the lecturer been taken legal action against.

4) I did it for five years in a row .... did anything happen to me? NONE... not counting the lot of As i received smile.gif
