this may be late, but i bought the Alessandro MS1's from yuheng (which i believe to be walabies partner in sales). Here's my take.
I needed something easy on easy off, less fatigue than my previous x3i and of course, something comparable in terms of sound quality, and something i could use for sound monitoring when shooting video. Attracted to the retro yet simple look of the MS1 or self researched reviews on these headphones, i made the decision. From a budget of RM2xx, i decided to spend more. Early verdict, i bought the wrong one. Or did i?
The wrong one in my case, i wanted to monitor sound levels when it came to shooting video, hell man, these aren't enitrely closed headphones so loud ambient sound does get in the way.
RM4xx? shxt this is worth it! i'll just get some IEMs for sound monitoring.
I'm no sound expert, but i'll review the rest of the positives sides since i've pointed out the negative side in my exprerience of practicality.
Sitting back and just plugging it into almost anything, my pc, mp3 players, psp, friend's portable players.. when i hear a tune, it's just sit back and relax, enjoy them tunes. i wouldn't think twice of complaining about sound quality. it is of course by far better than my previous x3i.
When i'm in the mood to listen to some tunes when skateboarding, man this is one of the best parts. Good sound and it's light weight, i couldn't ask for more. I'm no fashion freak, it does look pretty low profile, not too huge, not high tech at all. I love it.
Long hours during post (editing), listening to albums, hours of bus rides, plane trips when travelling, i could fall asleep and wake up without any fatigue (of course you can't roll your head over with headphones off which is a trade off with all headphones). All my friends have always given me a "wow" 5 seconds they try it.
I've tried high end headphones in the region of close to RM1k and over, but for RM400, you can't beat it. So here's the low down on the MS1.
Cons
1. Not entirely closed, people can hear what you're listening to when played loudly
2. Not ideal for careful sound monitoring in noisy environments
Pros
1. Lightweight
2. Comfortable
3. Stylish yet low profile
4. THEY SOUND GOOD
I'd like to thank yuheng for his friendly service, taking the time to explain areas i was curious to know about "sound". Although this is a late comment on the product, but it gave a good burn in time.
Note: Experience is based on bare MS1 without any amps.
