QUOTE
But holding back the development of the elite player base is the fact that its ethnic Chinese majority - around three-quarters of the population - tends to be football watchers instead of serious football players. These educated and business-minded people usually choose less risky career paths instead of the uncertain life of a professional footballer.

LOL dam true just like malaysia except we dont use imports unlike the little island 2 compensate their lack of local talents doh.gif indeed financial risks is way better than physical risk 2 them nevertheless shakehead.gif

The break is for Sea Games... which is currently held in Korat if U didn't notice. We had to start the league early to follow AFC's directive, which is for all Asian leagues to start together.

but still a stupid thing to do.just two weeks in break already. we dont see the epl having break for the african cup of nations. lets just see how sgor & kedah keep up.as most national players are from there.was just getting excited watching at the stadium.beats live tv hands down.

ya i know off topic tongue.gif

When I played for Selangor U18 3 years ago, my coach said the problem with our Players is mentality.

They Keep on thinking that they are star players

and the coach, was kinda racist.. where Chinese are stereo-typed that they don't play a good football.. which I have no idea why..

I was the only chinese who made it through even though I think there are better players than me..

i'm sorry if I offended anybody

hav to agree abit as well
i once try out for u-18 pg as well , but all the player chosen was malay , no doubt they are good n some of them was excellent, but there are 1 or 2 chinese are equally good as well(imo) ,but they was not chosen , n instead they chose the other chinses which are just average , maybe they hav their own view , but anyway just my opinion , no offence to anyone. smile.gif

Heh heh, I'm Chinese too and I've seen a lot of really good Chinese players, but looking at the other side of the fence, it may not be a racist thing at all. Maybe the coaches have a good reason for not picking Chinese players - simply for the fact that the chances are high that they may give up football for a "proper" future like studies, work, etc.

its better to have two excellent players rather than 18 crappy players (including those on the sub's bench)

who knows, maradona single handedly won the wc86 for argentina. even if he didn'tt score in the final,
he opened up the chances to other.
same case here, opponents need 3 average player to stop kaka class and another 3 to stop henry class.
that will leave quite a lot of space for the other 9 shit player of ours laugh.gif laugh.gif
thats it! provided that they know their way around the football field and where was the goal post located doh.gif laugh.gif

sg imported a lot of 'chung guo mui' to play for them. some are showing very promising results in the recent korat games. later on, sg's football team will look more like western team yawn.gif
